More details about “List of facts about why 360 degrees (360°) in a circle (Hinduism)” as given below

India knowledge hub since ages : India (Bharata) has been the knowledge hub since ages.

From spaceship (Gagananauka) to water ship (Nauka). From aerospace (Akashayana) to underwater sports (plutakrIDA) we had mastered everything.

India gave all the numerals to world : It was India who gave not only zero, but all the numbers (numerals) which the world is using is given by India and Indians.

Indian counting system : For example if we were unaware of the counting system, then how do we have the Sanskrit words like:

Dashamam (10), Shatam (100 – E.g., Shata Namavali), Sahasram (1000 – E.g., Sri Vishnu Sahasranama), Laksham (1,00,000), etc.

Indians know about the existence of life since ages : We Indians should be highly proud of been born in this great country India (Bharata).

We were knowing that life exist in plants since ages. This has been clearly written in ‘Jeeva Shastra‘. Similarly we are aware that 84,000 living beings exist on this earth.

Bharata means knowledge : The name Bharata itself means, people who have are educated and knowledgeable.

Bha in Bharata means ‘jnana / gyan‘ (Divine knowledge). This means, Bharata is a country where only ‘jnanis / gyanis‘ (Knowledgeable) people live.

My dear friends, now let us move to our main subject, “Why 360 degrees (360°) in a circle:

360° (360 degrees) in a circle : How many of us know, why it should be only and always 360° while circumferencing a circle and not less or more.

Like that, why it should not be just 1 degree or 1000 degree or – 20 degree or something else other than 360°.

It is because of the following reasons:

Earth rotation around Sun : Many of us know that Earth rotates around the Sun ☀ throughout the year.

Circumference of a circle : Let us take Sun ☀ as a center point of a circle and Earth as something which is circumferencing around the Sun ☀ (circumference of a circle).

If every degree is taken as a day :If every degree is taken as a day (whole of one day and night). Thus if Earth takes 45 days, then it is 45 degrees.

If Earth takes 90 days, then it is 90 degrees. For 180 days, it is 180 degrees. Similarly for  360 days, it is 360°.

PANCHANGA / KAALAMAANA (Almanac) : WE SHOULD ALL BE AWARE THAT IN BHARATIYA (Indian) KAALAMAANA / PANCHANGA (calendar) –

it is 360 days an year and also we have ‘adhika masam‘ (Europeans say it as leap year) in every 32.5 months (that is 32.5*30 = 975, it is for about 975 days).

30 days in Panchanga (Almanac) : As per our Bharatiya Panchanga, there are 30 days in every maasa / month).

One full rotation takes 360 days : Thus with this we can understand that for one full rotation of the Earth, it takes 360 days.

360° is a circle : That is, a whole of one 360° of a circle. That’s why our Bharatiya samskruti (sanskriti) is so great.

Others know this recently : Others have been known about this very recently, but Bharata vaasis (Indians) know about this since long long long (unknown) time ago itself.

Other importance about 360 degrees in Hinduism:

Pradakshina (circumambulation) : We Hindus do ‘Parikrama’ or also called as ‘Pradakshina’ (circumambulation) –

We do it with full 360° around the temple and / or statue of Bhagavan or any Devata.

Doing Pradakshina in front of Bhagavan : Also similarly, standing in front of Bhagavan or any Devata we do Parikrama (Pradakshina) for the whole 360°.

Chandra Deva (Moon) rotation : Chandra Deva (Moon) rotates around the earth for 15 days + 15 days (one whole month = 30 days), i.e., 15 days of Shukla Paksha (waxing) and 15 days of Krishna Paksha (waning).

Thus Chandra Deva (Moon) takes 15 + 15 = 30 * 12 months = 360 days to complete one full and whole rotation.
