Just before moving towards to know about “Garuda (Panchami) information (facts) (Significance) (importance) (history)“, let us know few basic and important information.

Most of us have heard of Sri Nag (Naga) Panchami. But now, let us know about Sri Garuda Panchami.

Lord Garuda Raja is regarded as the highest among all the birds.

He is the one of the greatest devotee of Sri Hari and is equal to Lord Aadi Shesha Nagaraja and Lord Shiva in yogyata (merit).

Sri Garuda Panchami is celebrated mostly on the same day of the Sri Nag (Naga) Panchami or sometimes it may vary as this is the day when Lord Garuda Raja took birth.

This is that bird on which Srimann Narayana travels all over the ananta brahmanda (infinite universes).

List of Garuda (Panchami) information (facts) is as given below:

Lord Garuda is highest among all the birds

Lord Garuda is one of the greatest devotee of Lord Vishnu

Garuda Panchami is the birth day of Lord Garuda Raja

Lord Garuda is the mount of Lord Vishnu

Taking Lord Garuda names can give us Moksha (Vaikuntha)

Two wings Lord Garuda, are two divisions of the Samaveda known as brihat and rathantara.

When Lord Garuda Raja flaps his wings, one can hear the chanting of the hymns from Samaveda.

All Lord Vishnu temples has Lord Garuda’s statue in namaskaram position.

Sri Krishna says in the Sri Bhagavad-gita “Among the birds, I am Garuda.”

And many more…

Lord Garuda Raja is so sacred that even someone who takes the name of this bird can attain mukti / moksha.

This is because, as this Lord Garuda Raja always stays in Sri Vaikuntha Loka to show his bhakti towards svayam Sri Maha Vishnu.

We should remember that as Sri Hari travels on the Lord Garuda Raja, it doesn’t mean that Sri Maha Vishnu is dependent on Lord Garuda Raja, no, never.

Srimann Narayana wants to show his kripa kataksha (blessings) towards all his devotees according to their yogyata (merit).

And thus, with Lord Garuda Raja also, Sri Hari shows his humbleness by giving a chance to this great bird to carry svayam Sri Pati (Sri Vishnu) on it.

That’s all and nothing else.

We can get mukti / moksha by chanting Lord Garuda Raja’s names as this great bird is one of the greatest devotees of Sri Hari.

Again this doesn’t mean that Lord Garuda Raja can give mukti / moksha.

No. It is only Sri Hari can give mukti / moksha.

Lord Garuda Raja is only a path shower to all Sri Hari’s devotees and thus as per the yogyata (merit) of the devotees they can attain mukti / moksha.

As known as Sri Hari’s vehicle, Lord Garuda Raja is the son of Sri Kashyapa Maharishi and Srimati Vinata Devi.

This Lord Garuda Raja is also known as Sri Kashyapeya (son of Sri Kashyapa Maharishi) and Sri Vainateya (son of Sri Vinata Devi).

In the Vedic literature it is stated that the two wings of the transcendental bird Lord Garuda Raja, are two divisions of the Sama Veda known as brihat and rathantara

When Lord Garuda Raja flaps his wings, one can hear the chanting of the hymns from Sama Veda.

Lord Garuda Raja is engaged in eternal service to Bhagavan Vishnu in Vaikuntha.

If we visit any Sri Hari / Sri Venkatesha / Sri Krishna / Sri Rama etc. etc. etc. temples (Any Lord Vishnu temples),

we can always see Lord Garuda Raja’s statue with head down and / or in the namaskara position along with the great Sri Hanuman statue.

Sri Krishna says in the Sri Bhagavad-gita – “vainateyash cha pakshinam”, means “Among the birds, I am Garuda.”

Lord Garuda carries Sri Maha Vishnu on his back always and therefore he is considered as the transcendental prince of all carriers.

And as said before Lord Garuda Raja is greatest among all the birds.

This doesn’t mean that Lord Garuda Raja is same as Sri Hari.

But Sri Hari is inside everything and everywhere and thus Sri Hari is also inside Lord Garuda Raja and with the blessings of Sri Hari, Lord Garuda Raja only performs his duties as per the instructions by Sri Hari.
