Just before going to “Benefits, uses, importance, significance of worshipping Lord Hanuman | Why Lord Hanuman is so powerful“, let us have some brief information.
Lord Hanuman parents names are : Kesari (father) and Anjana (mother).
Lord Hanuman affiliation : Greatest devotee of Lord Sri Rama, Lord Sri Mukhyaprana, a Devata (Demigod), Vanara (divine Monkey), avatar of Lord Sri Vayu, etc.

Hanuman was born to Mother Anjana and Father Kesari in place called Anjanadria Hill (Kishkinda, in the Koppal district of the present state of Karnataka).
Mother Anjana had done a great penance to beget Hanuman as her son and thus the place where Mother Anjana did the penance is called as Anjanadri.
Hanuman is an avatar of Lord Sri Vayu Deva. Lord Sri Vayu Deva has taken totally three avatars on this earth namely:
1st is Hanuman in Treta Yuga to serve Lord Sri Rama, 2nd is Bhima in Dvapara Yuga to serve Lord Sri Krishna and 3rd is Sri Madhwacharya Ji in Kali Yuga and is still serving to Lord (Sage) Sri Veda Vyasa Ji
[Lord (Sage) Sri Vedavyasa Ji is an avatar of Lord Sri Vishnu. There is no difference between Lord Sri Vishnu and Lord (Sage) Sri Vedavyasa Ji.]
Wherever anyone chants the name of Lord Sri Rama, there Hanuman will be definitely present. This is the kindness and devotion of our dear Hanuman.
No moving forward, let us know “Benefits, uses, importance, significance of worshipping Lord Hanuman | Why Lord Hanuman is so powerful“:
Let us consider this divine shloka (hymn) which comes in the great epic of Srimad Ramayana as given below:
atilakṣaṇa sampannaṁ mādhurya guṇa bhūṣitam ||
bud’dhyā hyaṣṭāṅgayā yuktaṁ tvamēvār’hasi bhāṣitum |
Meaning of the above shloka : “You (Hanuman) alone can use these types of words of divine qualities, eminence, supremacy of Lord Sri Rama.”
You (Hanuman) are always endowed with extremely highest characteristics, decorated with a grace of style and filled with high intelligence, consisting of eight highest qualities.”
This shloka (hymn) is taken from the most divine epic of Ramayana, where Hanuman meets Mother Sri Sita Devi.
After listening to Hanuman, Mother Sri Sita Devi eulogizes him (Hanuman) for his highest intellectual characteristics by saying like in above shloka (hymn).
Let us know, what are those eight highest qualities of Hanuman are as given below?
śuśrūṣā śravaṇaṁ caiva grahaṇaṁ dhāraṇāṁ tathā ।
Ūhāpōhō̕rtha vijñānaṁ tattvajñānaṁ ca dhīguṇāḥ ।।
Meaning of the above shloka : The above shloka (hymn) says that there are the eight highly important aspects of intellectual excellence which Hanuman has, and they are as given below:
śuśrūṣā (Shushrusha) – Hanuman gives highest importance towards listening to others, he is highly reverence, obedient, dutiful, service minded towards Lord Sri Rama, attentive etc.
śravaṇaṁ (Shravanam) – Hanuman hears very carefully, he is highly attentive and listens even the minute words, etc.
grahaṇaṁ (Grahanam) – Hanuman is very fast in grasping what others say, his knowledge acquiring capability is of the highest quality, he is highly comprehensive etc.
dhāraṇāṁ (Dharanam) – Hanuman has the highest power of concentration, his memory is of high quality, his retention power is high etc.
Uhaṁ (Oohaṁ) – Hanuman’s guessing power is of the highest quality (he can guess many things without wasting much time),
his comprehending power is superior, his inference capability is very good, he is very good in tarka (reasoning and logic capabilities) shastra, etc.
apōhā (Apoha) – Hanuman, very easily rejects which is against the Dharma (Sanatana Dharma), he refutes which is against Lord Sri Rama,
he argues with his counterparts and always wins the competition, his reasoning power is of high quality, he always removes the doubts of his followers (Sanatana Dharma followers) etc.
arthavijñānaṁ (Arthavijnanam) – Hanuman is very good at comprehension of meaning.
tattvajñānaṁ (Tattvajnanam) – Hanuman has highest capability of knowing the philosophy very easily,
he is always eager to learn the divine truth (tattva), he gives high importance of understanding and grasping the importance of ultimate truth.
Information about Lord Hanuman’s intelligence is as given below:
Hanuman is third most intelligent (1st is Lord Sri Vishnu / Rama, 2nd is Goddess Sri Lakshmi Devi / Sita Devi and 3rd is Lord Sri Brahma Deva or Hanuman both are equal – Hanuman is next Kalpa’s Lord Sri Brahma Deva).
Hanuman knows that Lord Sri Rama is none other than the Sarvottama / Supreme Lord Sri Vishnu himself.
Now, let us consider another divine shloka (hymn) as given below:
manōjavaṁ mārutatulyavēgaṁ jitēndriyaṁ bud’dhimatāṁ variṣṭham |
vātātmajaṁ vānarayūthamukhyaṁ śrīrāmadūtaṁ śaraṇaṁ prapadyē ||
Meaning of this above shloka (hymn) is as given below :
Hanuman is as swift as the mind (manōjavaṁ).
Hanuman is as fast as the Lord Sri Vayu Deva (Wind God) (mārutatulyavēgaṁ).
Hanuman is the one who has conquered all his senses (jitēndriya) (Indriyas).
Hanuman is a master of senses (jitēndriya) and he is the one who keeps them always under his own control.
Hanuman is the foremost among the intelligence (After Lord Sri Vishnu / Rama and Goddess Sri Lakshmi Devi / Sita Devi).
Hanuman has been honored for his fast learning, highest intelligence and superior wisdom.
Hanuman is the one who is the putra / son of Lord Sri Pavana (Vayu) Deva and also an avatar of Lord Sri Vayu Deva.
Hanuman is the one who is the chief of the Vanara army (Divine Monkey army).
Hanuman is the one who is the messenger and ambassador of Lord Sri Rama.
Thus this above given shloka (hymn) finally says that, “I (We all ordinary humans) should surrender to such mighty Hanuman“.
These (above said) are the spiritual and material things we all get if we serve our dear and mighty Hanuman.
Let us consider one more shloka (hymn) as given below:
bud’dhirbalaṁ yaśōdhairyaṁ nirbhayatvaṁ arōgatā |
ajāḍyaṁ vākpaṭutvan̄ca hanūmat smaraṇaṁ bhavēt ||
Meaning of this above shloka : By serving and worshiping our dear and mighty Hanuman, we will get the below:
buddhi (Buddhi) – Intelligence, reasoning power, wisdom, etc.
balaṁ (Balam) – Power, strength, mind concentration, solidity, resistance, firmness, energy, etc.
yaśas (Yashas) – Prominence, esteem, fame, importance, etc.
dhairyam (Dhairyam) – Courage, bravery, valor, etc.
nirbhaya (Nirbhaya) – Boldness, fearlessness, etc.
ārōgya (Arogya) – Fitness, good health, near perfection of health, etc.
ajāḍyam (Ajadyam) – Free from laziness, zero lethargy, zero inactivity, zero dullness, etc.
vākpātuttvaṁ (Vakpatuttvam) – We will have clear and clever speech capability, speech vigor will be increased, etc.
These are very few benefits (uses) we will get by serving our dear and mighty Hanuman.
Let us move further and know few more benefits (uses) of worshipping (serving) Hanuman.
HANUMAN SEVA PHALASHRUTI [What fruits (benefits) (uses) we get by worshipping (serving) Hanuman]:
Mahasagara (Hindu Mahasagara – today’s Indian ocean, that is, Lord Sri Varuna Deva), seeing Hanuman fly inspired Mainaka (Mainaka Mountain), who was drowned in the sagara (ocean):
“O, Mainaka, rise up and do the seva (serve) of ‘Lord Sri Rama doota Hanuman’, ask him for taking rest on your peaks”.
Mainaka Mountain rose in the ocean and asked Hanuman, “Oh! Veera (Great Hero), kindly take some rest on me and eat some fresh sweet fruits.”
Hanuman embraced the golden peak, and there was pushpa-vrishti (shower of flowers) from Devatas (Demigods) as even when there was scope for rest and some enjoyment,
Lord Sri Vayu Deva (Hanuman – He is the avatar of Lord Sri Vayu Deva) rejected it and concentrated on ‘Rama Karya’ (work of Rama) only.
[Note : we do get sukha (happiness) intermittently in life, but life is about sadhana (performance),
if sukha (happiness) becomes a hindrance to sadhana (performance), then that sukha (happiness) should be rejected].
Lord of the Devatas (Demigods) Lord Sri Indra applauded Mainaka Mountain as given below:
“I am happy with you Mainaka, you have done ‘Rama seva’ and thus, I give you ‘Abhaya-daana’ (impunity).”
Just because Mainaka Mountain served Lord Hanuman, he got preeti (love and care) of Lord Sri Indra Deva, that too without asking.
Lord Sri Vayu Deva’s seva (Lord Hanuman) will give preeti (love) of all Devatas (Demigods), they will definitely bless unasked and give phala (fruits) as per our worship.
Lord Sri Indra Deva immediately came and said all by himself, when Mainaka Mountain was actually hiding in ocean by from the fear of Lord Sri Indra Deva.
The prelude to this unasked blessing from Lord Sri Indra Deva is the story where Lord Sri Indra Deva had cut wings of all parvatas (mountains), but, Mainaka Mountain had escaped that.
But, by offering seva (serving) to Lord Sri Hanuman (Lord Sri Vayu Deva), instantly a major problem of Mainaka Mountain got solved immediately.
[We should remember according to Sanatana Dharma, earlier the parvatas / mountains were flying like birds.]
[This may look illogical and mindless for few people, but it is very clearly mentioned in multiple granthas (Hindu divine books), that the parvatas / mountains were flying like birds earlier.]
[Thus, this was causing huge problems to everyone and therefore Lord Sri Indra Deva cuts off the wings of the parvatas (mountain) to avoid the problems.]
For many years, Mainaka Mountain was afraid of Lord Sri Indra Deva and never came up due to that fear.
Mainaka Mountain was Goddess Sri Parvati Devi’s brother, shyala (meaning brother-in-law in Sanskrit) for Lord Sri Rudra Deva / Lord Shiva.
[Since Mainaka Mountain’s mother name is Mena and thus the name Mainaka, that is, the son of Mena. His father name is Himavan.]
Even Lord Shiva could not help here. Mainaka Mountain was in ‘daineeya paristiti’ (miserable situation), and he was hiding obscure from world.
This bad Karma of Mainaka Mountain also got washed away [without even thinking about it] and he was given relief immediately.
When one does very high order ‘punya karya’ (good deeds),
its effect is seen immediately [one does not have to wait till next life to get its fruits] and Lord Sri Hanuman’s seva is ‘Atyutkat Punya‘ (highest good deeds).
Punya (Good deed) of highest order, it immediately gives results, that is –
‘sheeghra phala dayaka‘ (giving fruits immediately) – gives desired fruits instantly [even if you have not intended for it in ‘seva sankalpa’ (Service resolution)].
The immediate problem of any kind gets solved if one does Hanuman (Lord Sri Vayu Deva) seva (serving).
Even if elders [whom we fear] are not happy and we feel uncomfortable, Hanuman seva (serving) solves those issues without having to think about it or struggle to find solution for it.
At times we face very bad days, destiny goes against us, nobody helps us, even our own relatives express inability, and finally, we resign to fate and say to ourselves:
“homas, japas are not giving any phalas (fruits), do they give instant result? All Karmas give phala (fruits) in next life only? Now I am asking for job, money, these homas, etc. will help me?”
What is the use if they give good job in next life? What use is it, if I am born wealthy in some other life?
Will my problem get solved now? Is there a WAY of all my sufferings?
HANUMAN SEVA (SERVING) (WORSHIP) IS THE WAY – DO HANUMAN SEVA (SERVING) (WORSHIP), AND FORGET ABOUT ALL YOUR WORRIES!
Some thoughts that can occur in one’s mind – Does Lord Sri Hanuman (Lord Sri Vayudeva) listen to our request?
Lord Sri Hanuman is a busy soul and I am ‘alpa jeevi’ (least knowledgeable person), should I be praying directly to HANUMAN,
even when I know he is ever busy with important assignments assigned by the Lord Sri Vishnu / Sri Hari / Sri Rama / Sri Krishna.
This doubt can be cleared by the following instance:
Hanuman asked Mainaka Mountain, “what is your problem? Why are you staying in the ocean like this?”
Look at the karuna (kindness) of ‘atyanta dayalu hanuman (vayu)‘ (very very kind Hanuman / Lord Sri Vayu Deva).
Hanuman didn’t ignore Mainaka Mountain by saying, “I am busy here, as I have a very important work to do”,
even though Hanuman was on ‘Rama Karya’, what could be more important than that – ‘Samudra Langhana’ (crossing the mighty ocean) was the highest mission of Hanuman’s life.
Yet he kept an open mind, enquired the ‘kushala mangala‘ (about the wellness) of Mainaka Mountain, observed his ‘vyatah‘ (problems) and addressed it.
That is an utmost ‘SATVIKA Lakshana‘ (divine feature) of Lord Sri Hanuman or any sajjana (good human being).
A satvika Guru always addresses the difficulties of one who approach them, even if one has NOT ASKED for that.
In today’s world, even ordinarily successful person would forget about problems of others and will be busy in showoff their so-called material success.
They, when asked for help, will repeatedly say:
“I don’t have time” | “I have to catch next flight” | “Can we discuss this later?” | “Okay, two minutes,” |
“Can you sum up your problems?” | “Your two minutes are over” | “Next time gentleman” | “You have just wasted my time” |
All the words are ‘dur-lakshanas’ (nasty features) of ill-minded people.
Giving an ear to needy is must and should as per Hindu Sanatana Dharma (Scriptures).
But, most SATVIKA people not just give answers to the problems, but also listen to what he / she asks [however busy he / she may be], but also starts helping the needy immediately.
SATVIKA never fails to enquire the trouble and difficulties and immediately addresses them.
That’s why that particular person is called as SATVIKA JEEVI (Divine person), otherwise he will be called as ‘TAMASIKA JEEVI’ and / or ‘RAJASIKA JEEVI’.
That is the main difference.
When a request is made to anyone whom we love, but that person feels people that he is being flocked because he is great what does he do – he rejects the love and the request that is made due to that love.
But, our Lord Sri Hanuman (Lord Sri Vayu Deva) is not like that, even in his busiest moment [even in the middle of an important work such as ‘Rama-Karya’] he asked Mainaka Mountain as given below:
“Why are you (Mainaka Mountain) in the ocean?”
And when Mainaka Mountain offered service (seva), he EMBRACED him and didn’t disappoint him.
This is because a Satvika atma (soul) does not show constraints or contempt, he / she simply obliges.
He / She (Satvika jeevi) finds ways and means to oblige.
He / She (Satvika jeevi) is attentive, because he / she intends to oblige, he / she doesn’t feign a busy schedule.
We all have constraints, but when faced with acute constraints with some ‘abhyagata’ (guest) is before us and we may say:
“I want to help you, but my hands are tied-up or I am very busy. Sorry, I cannot do anything at this moment, but friend I sympathize. God is great.”
Such words are empty words. They show denial, they hurt.
Satvika people do not use these words; they assist others in finding solutions, by being with them, and not leaving them half way.
Hanuman embraced Mainaka (Mountain), and saw to it that Lord Sri Indra Deva comes to Mainaka Mountainin and gives him ‘abhaya’ (fearlessness).
For a small gesture, a SATVIKA person gives back in mountainous amounts.
Even if MAINAKA MOUNTAIN was disturbing the work, he (LORD SRI HANUMAN) did not scold him, and he helped Mainaka Mountain instead.
Lord Sri Hanuman is our person in charge and he is very ‘dayalu’ (highly kind), he doesn’t allow us to open our mouths, he himself asks, “yes any problem? Why are you looking dull today?”
Some people, who like to show their power and busyness need a follow this, so that their egos are continuously satiated.
But Lord Sri Hanuman did not ask Mainaka Mountain to follow him, he waited, saw his plight, asked him his ‘kushala-mangala’ (about the wellness),
and also embraced him [all the while explaining what is the importance of ‘Rama karya’, why rest is not needed, as he is not tired] etc. etc. etc.
In our lives we keep false hope on people and run after to appease them for a favor – job, interview, position, etc. etc. etc, but that favor from a mere human becomes a far-fetched idea.
But our boss (Lord Sri Hanuman – off course our real and the main boss is Lord Sri Rama / Sri Hari / Sri Krishna) is not like that,
he (Hanuman) sees your preparation, your problems, appreciates your intentions, and awards you immediately.
One must serve those people where results are immediate, why serve the ONE who doesn’t even know what’s their capacity is?
PS : I have written with my ‘alpa-mati’ (a little wit), what little I have understood.
But each incident in the great epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata one can dwell for years and lives.
So, without any worry just do Lord Sri Hanuman (Lord Sri Vayu Deva) Seva!
Just do Lord Sri Vishnu / Sri Hari / Sri Rama / Sri Krishna’s seva and you will be happy automatically.
