Mahabharata means “The Great Bharata Desham” (The Great Bharata / India country).

Mahabharata happened in the third of the four Yugas, that is, it happened in the Dwapara Yuga (The other three Yugas’ names are Satya / Krita Yuga, Treta Yuga and Kali Yuga).

Collectively all these four Yugas (1st = Satya / Krita Yuga, 2nd = Treta Yuga, 3rd = Dwapara Yuga, 4th = Kali Yuga) is known as one Mahayuga.

As said above, Mahabharata happened in the 3rd Yuga called Dwapara Yuga. In this Yuga, Lord Sri Vishnu took his 8th avatar as Lord Sri Krishna.

Lord (Sage) Sri Veda Vyasa Ji (He is an avatar of Lord Sri Vishnu) wrote this great epic Mahabharata. Now, let’s know “what are the Mahabharata events dates”.

Lord (Sage) Sri Veda Vyasa Ji wrote the Great Mahabharata in 1 Lakh Shlokas (0.1 Million Shlokas).
