Just before going to “What is Sajjan (Sajjana) meaning (Hinduism – As per Sanatana Dharma)“, let us have some brief information.

First let us know the meaning (basic) of the word Sajjana as given below:

Sajjana (Sajjan) (सज्जन) – सज् (Saj) means someone who follows the Sanatana Dharma in the right way, (जन) jana = a person / people.

Many people think, a ‘Sajjana’ (in north Indian languages it is pronounced as ‘Sajjan’) means a good man, that’s it. But the word ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ has very deep and elaborate meaning. Let us know all those meaning now.

 

List of the different meanings of the word ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is as given below:

1. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who follows the Sanatana Dharma in the proper way as prescribed in the Hindu Shastras (Hindu Texts). 2. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is a person who very strictly follows the Hindu Dharma and especially as per the instructions given by Bhagavan Lord Sri Krishna (Vishnu).

3. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is a great devotee of Lord Sri Vishnu (Krishna – or any avatars of Lord Sri Vishnu) and who can’t leave even a second without Bhagavan Lord Sri Krishna (Vishnu). 

4. Since a ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is a great devotee of Lord Sri Vishnu (Krishna), he/she is very dear to Bhagavan Lord Sri Krishna (Vishnu).

5. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is the one who is loved by Bhagavan Lord Sri Krishna until eternal time. 6. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who follows a right ‘Guru Parampara’ (Guru lineage) and that Guru Parampara’s first Guru should be directly Lord Sri Vishnu (Krishna).

7. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who is born in a Dharmic / righteous family. This doesn’t mean he/she should be born only in Brahmana (Brahmin) family. No. He/She should be a devotee of Lord Sri Vishnu (Krishna) and should perform his/her Dharmic rituals daily. He/She can be a Brahmin or Kshatriya or Vaishya or Shudra or even without varna like a चाण्डाल (Chandala) (Chandal).

8. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who is ‘sadguni’ / highly virtuous person. He/She should learn all the sadguna or virtuousness from his parents, elders and from right Dharmic Guru. 

9. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who is sentry. He/She must look after his/her family members, relatives, friends, neighbours and overall other Sajjans or Sajjanas. 10. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who gives गौरव (gaurava or gaurav) / respect to all other ‘Sajjans or Sajjanas’.

11. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who gets respect from all the other ‘Sajjans or Sajjanas’. One Sajjan or Sajjana can give respect to other Sajjan or Sajjana if and only if both are following Sanatana Dharma is the correct way and in the right spirit.

12. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who give ‘sahayoga’ / support and gives ‘rakshana’ / guards his whole family in the ‘Dharmic’ way. 13. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who is a real ‘desha premi’ / patriot. He/She loves his/her ‘desha’ / country in which he lives.

13. A ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ is someone who is a ‘buddhiman’ / wise. He/She shows what is best to him/her, his/her family, relatives, neighbours and overall to other Sajjans or Sajjanas.

Now, let us know who is the best ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’ as given below:

1. Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu is called as ‘अप्राकृत / aprākr̥ta’, or ‘स्वराट् / svarāṭ’ that is, he is someone who is not an ordinary like you and me, he doesn’t depends on anyone or anything or even on the nature for anything and thus he is the best ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’. He is completely independent.

 

2. Goddess Sri Lakshmi Devi is also called as ‘अप्राकृत / aprākr̥ta’, she is second best ‘Sajjan or Sajjana’. She is the consort of Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu and she is completely dependent on Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu and not at all dependent on anyone or anything else.

3. Lord Sri Brahma and Lord Sri Vayu (He is next Kalpa’s Lord Sri Brahma) are both ‘प्राकृत / prākr̥ta’ and are children of Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu. They both are completely dependent on Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu and Goddess Sri Lakshmi Devi. They are third best Sajjans or Sajjanas.

4. Goddess Sri Sarasvati Devi and Goddess Sri Bharati Devi (She is the consort of Lord Sri Vayu and in the next Kalpa, she will be Goddess Sri Sarasvati Devi) are fourth best ‘Sajjans or Sajjanas’. They are completely dependent on all the above mentioned (Sr. 1,2,3).

5. Lord Adishesha, Lord Garuda and Lord Sri Rudra (Lord Shiva) are the fifth best ‘Sajjans or Sajjanas’. Lord Adishesha is the son of Maharshi Kashyapa and Kadru.

Lord Garuda is the son of Maharshi Kashyapa and Vinata. Lord Shiva is the manas putra (mind son) of Lord Sri Brahma. They all are is completely dependent on all the above mentioned (Sr. 1,2,3,4).

6. Goddess Varuni, Goddes Sauparni, Goddessi Parvati are the sixth best ‘Sajjas or Sajjanas’. They are completely dependent on all the above mentioned (Sr. 1,2,3,4,5).

Goddess Varuni is the consort of Lord Adishesha, Goddess Sauparni is the consort of Lord Garuda and Goddess Parvati is the consort of Lord Shiva.

7. Lord Indra and Lord Kama are the seventh best ‘Sajjans or Sajjanas’. Lord Indra is the son of Maharshi Kashyapa and Aditi Devi. Lord Kama is the son of Lord Sri Vishnu.

Lord Kama takes different avatars including as the son of Lord Sri Krishna and Goddess Rukmini Devi during the Dvapara Yuga. They are completely dependent on all the above mentioned (Sr. 1,2,3,4,5,6).
