Lord Sri Krishna is the svayam (direct) avatar of Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu (Lord Narayana) (Sri Hari).

Lord Krishna took avatar (reincarnated) for the reasons as given here: To destroy the ‘Adharmic people’ (Unrighteous people), To protect the ‘Aharmic people’ (Righteous people), 

To protect his devotees, To destroy all who had become ‘bhoobhara’ (Demonic people who were causing nuisance all around the world) for the mother earth.
