Just before going to “Vishnu names starting with Sri (Shri, Shree) with meaning“, let us have some brief information.

Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu is called as “Adi Purusha” (grand first divine Bhagavan / God), as he is the first one who is staying in these unlimited universes since ‘Adi Kalam’ (Grand unknown time). No one knows about his birth.

Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu’s consort (divine wife) name is Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi. She is also staying with Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu since unknown time and no one knows about the exact time frame of this.

Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu’s first son name is Lord Sri Brahma Deva and he is born from the ‘nabhi’ (divine navel) of Lord Sri Vishnu. From Lord Sri Brahma’s manasa (divine mind) multiple divine Devatas / Demigods are born including Lord Shiva.

Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu is having unlimited number of names. In that, the names starting from “Sri” itself has unlimited number of names.

Let’s know few of them:

In Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram, sloka (verse) number 65, we have a sloka (verse) as given below:

śrīdaḥ śrīśaḥ śrīnivāsaḥ śrīnidhiḥ śrīvibhāvanaḥ ।
śrīdharaḥ śrīkaraḥ śrēyaḥ śrīmāṃllōkatrayāśrayaḥ ॥ 65 ॥

The different Bhagavan Sri Vishnu names starting with Sri are as given below:

1. śrīdaḥ (Sridah – Name = Srida): This is Lord Sri Vishnu’s name and he is the one who bestows ‘संपत्ति / sampatti’ (divine wealth – money is just one part of it), that is, Sridah. Here Sridah = Sri + dah = संपत्ति / sampatti + bestower.

2. śrīśaḥ (Srishah – Name = Srisha / Srish): This is also Lord Sri Vishnu’s name and he is the one who is the Eesha (Controller / Husband / Ruler / Supreme / Stronger / Lord etc) of Goddess Sri (Laskhmi Devi). Here Sri + Eesha = Sri (Lakshmi Devi) + Eesha (Controller etc.).

Sri means Lakshmi Devi and Eesha (also pronounced as Isha) means the Controller / Husband / Ruler / Supreme / Stronger / Lord etc. and Srishah means the Lord of Maha Lakshmi Devi, that is the Goddess of ‘संपत्ति / sampatti’ (fortune, wealth, etc.).

3. śrīnivāsaḥ (Srinivasah – Name = Srinivasa / Srinivas): Another name of Lord Sri Vishnu is Srinivasa.

Srinivasah = Sri + nivasa + h = Maha Lakshmi Devi + divinely living (abode) + He. Thus Srinivasah means, the one (Maha Lakshmi Devi) who always dwells (nithya-anapaayani) in the (Hrudaya / divine heart) chest of Bhagavan Sri Vishnu inseparably poised.
