Just before moving towards to know about “List of Hindu Gods birthdays (Jayanti) – PART 2 of 2“, let us know few basic and important information.

Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma) is existing since the ‘aadi kalam‘ (Unknown timeframe) and will long last until the ‘ananta kalam‘ (Unknown infinite timeframe).

Sanatana Dharma is a term used by Hindus to refer to Hinduism in today’s period.

Sanatana Dharma refers to the “eternal” truth and teachings of Hinduism. 

In Sanskrit, Sanatana Dharma has infinite number of meanings like: eternal, permanent, forever, primeval, perpetual, ancient, everlasting, unending, etc. etc. etc.

To give the birth dates of Hindu Gods as per Gregorian Calendar is not at all possible.

Because, there Gregorian Calendar is completely different from the Hindu Panchanga.

But, author will try to give the closest Gregorian Calendar date.

Now, let us know a “List of Hindu Gods birthdays”.

List of Hindu Gods birthdays are as given below:

Lord Adishesha Nag (Serpent) : Lord Adishesha Naaga (Nag) (Naga) (Serpent) is the son of Maharishi Kashyapa and Sri Kadru Devi.

We celebrate the birthday of Lord Adishesha Nag (Naga) (Serpent) on ‘Nag (Naga) Panchami‘ on the Panchami Tithi (5th day) of Shravana masam (month), Shukla Paksha (Bright fortnight) every year.

Lord Serpent Adishesha Nag is the first among the serpents and snakes and thus he is called as the King of the Serpents and Snakes.

Lord Serpent Adishesha Nag consort name is Sri Varuni Devi, also called as Nagalakshmi.

Shravana masam (month) falls during the July – August period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Lord Sri Garuda Deva : Lord Sri Garuda Deva is called as the King of Birds.

Lord Sri Garuda Deva is the bed of Lord Vishnu.

Even Lord Garuda Deva’s birthday is same as Lord Adishesha Nag’s birthday.

We celebrate the birthday of Lord Garuda on ‘Garuda Panchami‘ on the Panchami Tithi (5th day) of Shravana masam (month), Shukla Paksha (Bright Fortnight) every year.

Lord Sri Garuda Deva’s consort name is called as Sri Souparni Devi.

Shravana masam (month) falls during the July – August period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Yudhishthira (First of the Pandavas) : Yudhisthira was born in Ashwina masam (month) on Panchami tithi (5th day), in Shukla paksha (Bright Fortnight) in Jyeshtha Nakshatra at midday Abhijit Muhurta.

Ashwina masam (month) falls during the September – October period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Bhima (Second of the Pandavas) : The mighty Bhima was born on Ashwina masam (month) on Navami tithi (9th day), in Krishna paksha (Dark fortnight) after midday.

The powerful Bhima was younger than Yudhishtira by 1 year and 19 days.

Ashwina masam (month) falls during the September – October period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Arjuna (Third of the Pandavas) : The great archer was born in Phalguna masam (month) on Purnima tithi (Full Moon Day) during the day in Uttara Naksatra (Star).

The amazing third Pandava Arjuna was younger than Bhima by 1 year, 4 months and 21 days.

Phalguna masam (month) falls during the February – March period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Nakula and Sahadeva : Both were the twins and were born in Phalguna masam (month), Amavasya tithi (New Moon day), at midday, in Ashwini Nakshatra (Star).

Both Nakula and Sahadeva were younger than Arjuna by 1 year, 0 month, and 15 days.

Phalguna masam (month) falls during the February – March period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Goddess Sri Draupadi Devi : She was born in Shravana masam (month), Chaturthi tithi (4th day), in Krishna paksha (Dark fortnight).

Goddess Sri Draupadi Devi was not born from a womb, but she emerged from a Yagna kunda (From divine fire).

Shravana masam (month) falls during the July – August period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Karna : The avatar of Lord Surya, that is, Karna was born in Magha masam (month), Padya (Ekam) (1st day), Shukla paksha (Bright fortnight).

As per Mahabharata, Karna was older than Yudhishthira by 16 years.

Magha masam (month) falls during the January – February period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Lakshmana (Ramayana) : Ashada masam (month), Will be updated shortly.

Bharat (Bharata) (Ramayana) : Pausha masam (month), Will be updated shortly. 

Pausha masam (month) falls during the December – January period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Shatrughna (Ramayana) : Ashada masam (month), Will be updated shortly.

Ashada masam (month) falls during the June – July period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Lord Hanuman : The great devotee of Lord Rama, that is, Lord Hanuman was born on the Purnima tithi (Full Moon day) of Chaitra masam (month).

Lord Hanuman’s birthday (Jayanti) is known as ‘Chaitra Purnima‘.

Chaitra masam (month) falls during the March – April period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Goddess Sri Ganga Devi : Goddess Sri Ganga Devi came down as Sri Bhagirathi (भागीरथि / ಭಾಗೀರಥಿ / bhāgīrathi) –

On the Dashami tithi (10th day) in the Shukla paksha (Bright fortnight) in Jyeshtha masam (month).

Goddess Sri Ganga Devi’s birthday is known as ‘Ganga Jayanti‘ or ‘Ganga Dashami‘.

Jyeshtha masam (month) falls during the May – June period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Sri Raghavendra Swamy Aradhana : He is an avatar of Prahlada.

Sri Raghavendra Swamy’a Aradhana (Birthday / Jayanti) falls on the Dvitiya tithi (2nd day) of the Krishna paksha (Dark fortnight) in the Shravana masam (month).

Shravana masam (month) falls during the July – August period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Lord Ganesha : Lord Ganesha’s birthday or Jayanti is called as ‘Sri Ganesha Chaturthi‘.

Lord Ganesha was born on Chaturthi tithi (4th day) in the Shukla paksha (Bright fortnight) of the Bhadrapada masam (month).

Bhadrapada masam (month) falls during the August – September period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Lord Kartikeya : Lord Kartikeya is also called as Kumara (Kumar) and thus his birthday or Jayanti is known as ‘Kumara (Kumar) Shashti‘.

Lord Kartikeya Jayanti (birthday) is observed on the Shashti tithi (6th day) during the Shukla Paksha (Bright fortnight) in Ashada masam (month).

Ashada masam (month) falls during the June – July period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Gita Jayanti : The divine ‘Gita Jayanti‘ (Bhagavad Gita Jayanti) is observed on the Ekadashi tithi (11th day) of the Shukla paksha (Bright fortnight) of Margashirsha masam (month).

On this day, the most auspicious ‘Bhagavad Gita‘ was rendered by Lord Krishna to his devotee Arjuna.

Margashirsha masam (month) falls during the November – December period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Devarishi Narada : Devarishi Narada’s Jayanti (birthday) is called as ‘Narada Jayanti‘.

Narada Jayanti is celebrated on Pratipada tithi (1st day) during Krishna paksha (Dark fortnight) of Jyeshtha masam (month).

Devarishi Narada is the son of Lord Brahma and thus Devarishi Narada is called as ‘Manasa Putra‘.

Jayeshtha masam (month) falls during the May – June period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Lord Kubera : Lord Kubera is the God of wealth in Hinduism.

Lord Kubera’s Jayanti (birthday) is known as ‘Sharad Purnima‘ which falls on Ashwina masam (month), Purnima tithi (Full Moon day).

Ashwina masam (month) falls during the September – October period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Ratha Saptami (Surya Jayanti) : Lord Surya’s Jayanti (birthday) is called as ‘Ratha Saptami‘.

Ratha Saptami (Surya Jayanti) is observed on the Saptami tithi (7th day) during the Shukla paksha (Bright fortnight) of Magha masam (month).

Lord Surya’s parents are Maharishi Kashyapa and Sri Aditi Devi.

Magha masam (month) falls during the January – February period as per Gregorian Calendar.

Balarama Jayanti : Balarama is an avatar of Lord Adishesha Nag.

Balarama Jayanti is celebrated on Shravana masam (month), Shashti tithi (6th day), Krishna paksha (Dark fortnight).

Shravana masam (month) falls during the July – August period as per Gregorian Calendar.
