Just before going to “List of Lord Krishna (Rama) (Vishnu) (Hari) (Narayana) names with (correct) meaning“, let us know a brief, basic and very important information.

Bhagavan Lord Sri Krishna / Hari / Vishnu / Rama / Narayana has unlimited number of names.

Our ‘Shastras‘ (divine books) says that, “we can easily count the total number of sand particles in this unlimited universes, but we can’t count the total number of Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) names”.

This is the greatness of our Bhagavan Sri Krishna / Hari / Vishnu / Rama.

Let us take one name at a time, and also let us understand the meaning of each name:

Yogeshwara : He can understand anybody’s mind easily. | Giridhara : He is the one who lifted the Govardhana hill. |

Vasudeva : He is the God who lives in all. | Rishikesha : Who has controlled all his indriyas (senses). |

Adhokshaja : He is the one who is beyond material nature. | Yadava : He belongs to and most prominent among Yadavas. |

Ishvara : He is the ultimate God. | Aatmakama : He doesn’t need anyone to satisfy him. |

Rameyarasa : He is the king of Rama Devi (Lakshmi Devi). | Keshava : He is the one who killed Kesi demon. | And many more…

Now let us know more detailed meaning of Lord Krishna (Vishnu) (Hari) names as given below:

1. Yogeshwara : Somebody who can understand the mind of anything and anybody.

Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is the Parama (ultimate) Prabhu (leader / father). That’s why Sri Krishna is known as Yogeshwara.

Also Yogeshwara means somebody who has the ultimate richness and power.

(This cannot be compared even with any other Demi Gods – even like Sri Brahma Deva, Rudhra Deva and even Sri Mahalakshmi Devi).

Yogeshwara: Yogi = Ultimate mind reader / Yoga performer, Ishwara – Supreme to everybody and everything.

2. Giridhara : When Sri Krishna was just sapta (seven) year old, due to krodha (mindless ego / rage) of Sri Indradeva, heavy rains will continuously falls for seven days.

To help his bhakthaadi (followers / devotees), Sri Krishna lifts the great mountain Govardhana with his left hand’s small finger without any difficulty.

Giridhara: giri – Mountain, dhara – holder. Someone who holds the mountain.

3. Vasudeva (Vaasudeva) : In this name, vaasu means living and deva means the god. Total meaning of this name is a god who lives in everything and everybody.

Another meaning of the name Vaasudeva is the son of the Vasudeva (father of Sri Krishna). Vaasudeva: Vaa = gnana (ultimate knowledge), su = full of suKha (happiness).

4. Rishikesha / Hrushikesha (Hrushikesh) : Somebody who has the supreme control over his indriyaas (sarvendriya)(body holes – eyes, ears, nose, mouth, genitals, etc if any). 

5. Adhokshaja : He is the one who is beyond material nature.

6. Yadava (Yaadava) : Sri Krishna Paramaatma takes birth in the great family / dynasty of Yadu. That’s why Sri Krishna’s name is Yaadava.

Yaadava: Yaadu – Yadu vamsha (family), Udava / Udaya – somebody who has taken birth.

7. Ishvara (Eshvara) : In Sri Bhagavad Geeta Sri Krishna has said “Ishvara: sarva bhootaanaam”. Ishvara means as a Paramaatma, somebody who is living in everybody’s hrudaya (heart).

Ishvara: Isha = ultimate / supreme god, vara – giver of anything and everything to his bhaktaadi (devotees).

8. Aatmakama : Sri Krishna / Sri Rama or any Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) name is same as this name. Like Aatma Rama / Aatma Krishna. This means someone who doesn’t need love of anybody.

He is happy within himself. He gets satisfied within himself. He doesn’t has to pay obeisances or thanks to anybody or anything. Aatmakaama: Aatma – self, kaama – satisfaction.

9. Rameyarasa : Here Rame / Ramaa means swayam Sri Mahalakshmi / Sri Siridevi / Sri Devi and arasa means king.

Total meaning of this name is king of Sri Mahalakshmi. That is husband of swayam Sri Maha Lakshmi.

10. Keshava : Somebody who is having ghunghru (curly) hairs. Keshava: Kesha – hairs. Also, Keshava means someone who has killed the rakshasa (demon) Keshi (who comes in the form of a horse).

11. Hari: He is the one who cleans up the dirt from inside and outside of his bhaktaadi (devotees). Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is the one who takes away all the pain of his all sharanaagata (surrender) bhaktaadi.

12. Naaraayana (Narayana): Somebody who takes rest / lives in all his bhaktaadi (devotees). Naaraaayana: Nara = living being. Naara – All types of living beings, aayana – resting / living place.

13. Madhusoodhana (Madhusudhana): There was an asura (demon) named Madhu (another meaning of Madhu is honey).

This asura was killed by swayam Srimann Narayana. Hence the name Madhusoodhana. Madhusoodhana: Madhu = an asura name, soodhana – killer.

14. Hayagriva: There were two asura (demon) named hayagrivaasura and KeiThabha who steals the Sri Veda (all the four Veda) from Sri Brahmadeva.

To bring back all these great four Sri Veda, Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) takes the form of a Horse and kills both of these asura.

Because of the Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) Sri Hayagriya form, the name Hayagriya came into existence. Hayagriya: Haya – Horse.

15. Matsya: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) takes the form of the fish and helps in the uddhara (upliftment) of the first king on the earth Sri Manu Chakravarti. In samskruta matsya means fish.

16. Koorma (Kurma): During the amrita (ambrosia) manthana (churning) Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) takes the form of Sri Koorma (Tortoise).

And keeps the mandhara parvat on his back and helps the Demi Gods to get the amruta. In samskruta Koorma means tortoise, and thus the name.

17. Varaha: Once a rakshasa named Hiranyaaksha kidnaps the Bhoodevi (mother earth) and keeps inside the cosmic ocean.

(One should remember that just like other planets in our universe, similarly other oceans are also available in different planets.)

(Few of these oceans are much smaller compared to earth’s ocean and also few of them are much much larger compared to earth’s ocean.)

For this, to save the Bhoodevi from the clutches of the demon Hiranyaaksha, Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) takes the Sri Varaha (boar) form and kills the demon and frees Bhoodevi.

18. Narasimha (Naarasimha): Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) takes the half lion and half man form and kills a rakshasa named Hiranyakashipu (elder brother of Hiranyaaksha – see above Sr. no. 17). Narasimha: Nara = man, simha = lion.

19. Vaamana (Vamana): Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) comes in as a dwarf boy and sends the King Bali chakravarti into the paataala loka. Many must know the story of three foots of Vaamana avatar.

One foot on the upper planets, one foot on the lower planets and the last & third foot on the head of the king Bali Chakravarti. In samskruta Vaamana means dwarf and thus the name.

20. Parashuraama (Parashurama): Sri Narayana takes the avatar of Sri Parashuraama and destroys all the inhumanly kshatriya kings on the earth by rotating the globe, 21 times.

Parashuraama: Parashu – In samskruta this means axe, raama – giver of happiness and one who has body which is sky blue in colour.

21. Raama (Rama): Giver of happiness and one who is sky blue in colour. One who is as gentle as Shashi (chandra – moon). The Ultimate auspicious one. One who is ever lasting etc.

22. Krishna: Krishna means someone who has black / blue body colour. Krishna means somebody who has the power to attract anything and everything (Both living and non-living beings). Krishna means the supremely beautiful.

Krishna means someone who loves his bhakthaadi (devotees) and protects all his followers. Krishna means who has gained everybody’s love. etc.

23. Buddha: Sri Maha Vishnu takes the birth as Sri Buddha to show digbrame (incorrect path) to all the atheists and rakshasah (demons) mindset people. Buddha: enlightened mind.

24. Kalki: At the end of the Kali yuga, Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) will take the Sri Kalki avatar to destroy all the avaidhika / adharmi humans.

According to the Sri Veda Vyaasa devaru the total period of one Kali yuga is 4,32,000 years. In this only, just above 5,000 years has passed as of date.

25. Mukunda: Mukunda means somebody who is giving mukti / moksha. Also Sri Mukunda means one who gives divyaananda, chaitanya and shakti to all his bhaktaadi.

Mukti / Moksha means to get a place in swayam Sri Vaasudeva’s foot, that is, a place in Sri Vaikuntha.

Many believe that as soon as someone dies will get mukti / moksha which is completely incorrect.

Only with the blessings of Sri Vaasudeva, one can get the mukti / moksha. Mukti and Moksha are one and the same words.

26. Achyuta (Achuta): Someone who is always having the purNa gnana. He is the Parabrahma who will never have the aparaajita and one who will never be get patana (defeated).

27. Purushottama (Purushottam) : In all the infinite brahma loka, the one who is sarvottama (supreme) and who never makes even a simple mistake is Sri Purushottama.

Purushottama: Purusha = man / human, uttama = best / supreme / ultimate.

Here we need to be very clear about the meaning of man. In this name man means starting from Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, Sri Brahmadeva and upto ordinary humans.

This is the real meaning. That is there is no body who is equal to or greater than Sri Purushottama.

28. RaNachora (Ranhachora): During the Jarasandha’s 18th time attack, Sri Krishna runs away from the battle field and thus the name.

We should always remember that this is also a leela of Sri Krishna Paramaatma and nothing else. RaNachora: RaNa = Battle / Battle field, chora = thief / runner.

29. Ajita: This is another Sri Krishna name. While Sri Rukmini Devi when sending a letter with a brahmana purusha, pronounces Sri Krishna as Sri Ajita in the same letter.

So that Sri Krishna saves Sri Rukmini Devi from the clutches of Shishupaala and others. Jita / Jeet means win and Ajita means someone who cannot be conquered by any of his enemy.

30. Devadeva / Mahadeva: When compared to Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, Sri Brahma Deva, Sri Vayu Deva Deva, Sri Saraswati Devi, Sri Bharati Devi (consort of Sri Vaayu Deva),

Sri Rudra Deva, Sri Paarvati Devi, Sri Indra Deva, etc., Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) / Sri Krishna is the Aadi Deva (grand first) and is poojita (prayed) by all these Demi Gods.

Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) / Sri Krishna is the Prabhu of all these & others. Thus the name Devadeva or Mahadeva. Sri Rudhra Deva / Sri Shiva is also called Mahadeva.

But he is poojita / prayed starting from Sri Paarvati Devi, Sri Indra Deva and other Demi Gods and thus Mahaan among these demi gods and so the name.

31. Jagatpati: Sri Krishna / Sri Raama / Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is the Pati / Prabhu of all the infinite universes and so the name. Jagatpati: Jagat = infinite universes, pati = prabhu / king.

32. Bhagavaan (Bhagavan): In our shaastra Sri Bhagavan means someone who has Purna shakti, Purna keerti, Purna aishwarya, Purna gnana, Purna Soundarya and Purna Vairaagya.

Thus who has all these six siri (guna) is called Bhagavan. The one and only who has all these six guna is Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) / Sri Krishna.

33. Bhootabhaavana (Bhutabhavana): Here bhoota / bhuta (bhoo / bhu – infinite universes / worlds / earths) means all living and non-living things.

And bhaavana / bhavana means someone who can understand the bhavana (feeling) of all living and non-living things. This could only be Sri Krishna.

34. Bhootesha: One who is Isha (Ishvara) of all the bhoo / bhu (including all the infinite universes / worlds / earths). Again Bhootesha is our greatest Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) / Sri Krishna.

35. Yadunandana: Somebody who is the child / son in the Yadu family / dynasty, that is our swayam Sri Krishna.

36. Asamourdva: This means there is nobody who is greater or equal to Sri Krishna.

If anybody thinks that Sri Krishna is in same line with the other demi gods, that is, –

even like Sri Brahma Deva or Sri Rudra Deva / Sri Shiva then that person would become naastika (atheist) immediately. This is very clearly said in the Sri Padma Puraana.

37. Jagadhishwara: He is the one who protects all the bhaktaadi in all the infinite universes. He is Prabhu of all the infinite universes.

Jagadishvara – Jagad = all the infinite universes, Ishvara = Prabhu of all living and non-living including all the demi gods.

38. Sachhidaananda (Sachidananda): Shaashvata, gnana and aananda swaroopa is called Sachhidaananda.

This can only be Srimann Naaraayana / Sri Krishna. Sachhidaananda = Someone whose ‘chit’ (manas, that is mind) is always at ‘aananda’ = bliss and eternally happy.

39. Braahmanyadeva (Brahmanyadeva): Sri Krishna is the poojita (prayed) by all the Braahmana and thus the name.

Braahmanyadeva: Braahmanya / Brahmanya = all the braahmana / brahmana, deva = God / Sri Krishna.

40. Janaardana (Janardana): Few people pronounce this name is Janardhana, which is incorrect.

Janardana is someone who helps his devotees is called as Janardana. Also, Janardana means one who destroys all the cruel people / in-humans people.

Janaardhana: Jana = people – in this name people means cruels / inhumans, ardhana – means ardhana means mardhana – murdering – destroying. Total meaning is destroying the inhuman people.

41. Vishwambhara: He is the one who is wearing / looking after all the infinite universes.

Vishwambhara: Vishwa – infinite universes, ambhara / dhaaraNa = wearing / looking after all the infinite universes.

42. Triyuga: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) will be taking avatar in the three yuga (Satya / Kruta yuga, Treta yuga and Dwapara yuga) and thus the name Triyuga.

Here one can get the doubt that Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) came to this earth as Sri Buddha Deva in the Kali yuga.

One should note that Sri Maha Vishnu takes the birth as Sri Buddha to show incorrect path to all the atheists and rakshasah (demons) mindset people.

Also at the end of Kali yuga, Srimann Naaraayana would take his birth as Lord Sri Kalki.

We should also note that as soon as Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) takes avatar, that yuga would become like Satya yuga automatically.

43. Maadhava (Madhava): A mahaan purusha (Sri Purushottama) would be the consort of Sri Mahaalakshmi. H

usband of Sri Mahaalakshmi is called Maadhava. Maadhava: Ma = Sri Mahaalakshmi, adhava = Consort / Husband. That is Sri Mahaalakshmi’s consort / husband.

44. Daamodara (Damodara): Once Sri Krishna will be doing some mischievous things.

To stop doing this Yeshodaa Devi ties up our Sri Baala Gopaala with a rope. This situation gives Sri Muddu Krishna this name, ‘Daamodara’. Daamodara: Daamo = rope, udara = waist.

45. Paramaatma (Paramatma): Sri Krishna is Sri Paramaatma. Paramaatma: Para(ma) = supreme, ultimate, sarveshvara, aatma: the ultimate soul / sarvottama aatma (soul).

46. Parabrahma: Sri Parabrahma means someone who knows everything.

There is nothing which he needs to learn from others including Sri Malalakshmi Devi, Sri Brahma Deva, Sri Vayu Deva, Sri Saraswati Devi, Sri Bharati Devi, Sri Rudhra Deva, Sri Tulasi Devi, Sri Parvati Devi, etc.

He is the one who has given Sri Veda to Sri Brahma Deva. Parabrahma: Para = supreme / ultimate / sarveshvara / sarvottama. Brahma = knowledgeable / full of gnana.

47. Brahma: This is the original name of Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu). Just like we humans keep names like Krishna / Raama etc.

Similarly Sri Brahma Deva (Sri Chaturmukha Brahma Deva) got this name. Brahma means who knows everything.

The difference between the Sri Chaturmukha Brahma Deva and Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is that Sri Chaturmukha Brahma Deva is the follower of Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu).

Sri Chaturmukha Brahma cannot do anything on his own (no freedom).

With the instructions and orders of Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu), Sri Chaturmukha Brahma Deva only does his duties. Brahma = knowledgeable / full of gnana.

48. Govinda: Sri Krishna is known as Sri Govinda. The meaning of the name Sri Govinda is, someone who has control over the ‘Go’ (cows) and all the ‘indriyas’.

Govinda: Go = Cow, Vin / in = indriyaas, da = control.

49. Gopaala (Gopala): Another name of Sri Krishna is Sri Gopaala. Meaning of the name Sri Gopaala is, someone who looks after the people who take care of the cows.

Gopaala: Go = Cow, paala = doing paalana / looking after / taking care.

50. Vishnu: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) name is Sri Vishnu. Sri Vishnu means somebody who is the taking care of all the vishwa (infinite universes / words).

He is the one who is the king of all the infinite universes. Vishnu = Vishwa (infinite universes).

51. Garbodakashaayivishnu (Garbodakashayivishnu): Sri Maha Vishnu’s one breadth which comes out of his nose can create unlimited / infinite universes.

This is the meaning of this name Sri Garbodakashaayivishnu.

Garbodakashaayivishnu: Garba = womb, udaka = stomach, shaayi = sleeping, vishnu = vishnu.

The one breadth which comes from the stomach of Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) through nose can create infinite universes. This is done when Sri Vishnu is laying down / sleeping position.

52. Kaaranodakashaayivishnu (Karanodakashayivishnu): Sri Maha Vishnu is the kaarana (reason) for all the birth, living and death of anything and everything.

This is the meaning of the name. Kaaranodakashaayivishnu: Kaarana = reason for all, udaka = waist, shaayi = sleeping / laying down, vishnu = Vishnu.

Sri Brahma Deva and Sri Rudhra Deva are only for the name sake that they give birth / create universe (Sri Brahma Deva) and destruct the universe (Sri Rudhra Deva).

Anything and everything is done by swayam Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) / Sri Krishna (creating, paalana, destruction etc.).

53. KshiroDhakashaayivishnu (KshiroDhakashayivishnu): Sri Maha Vishnu is living in anything and everything.

Starting from inside in paramaanu (even inside the parts of the atom) to every living and nonliving things.

KshiroDhakashaayivishnu: Kshir / Kshira = Milky Ocean in Sri Vaikuntha, udaka = waist, shaayi = laying down / sleep, vishnu = Vishnu.

54. Aanandachinmayarasa: The meaning of this name is, someone who is always in aananda / happiness.

Somebody who is having full of gnana (knowledge). Also he is the one who is having the alavkika roopa (most attractive and unbelievable body).

Anandachinmayarasa: Aananda = one who is always happy / full of gnana, chinmaya = whose heart is always in happiness / who is always good with his bhaktaadi, arasa = king.

55. Akrura: Sri Krishna is known as Sri Akrura. Krura means who is kruri (cruel) and the Akrura is the one who is the most dayaanidhi (someone who doesn’t know about the cruelty).

Sri Krishna is full of mercy. He is dayaanidhi. Anyone who worships Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu), will be protected, will be saved for ever. Akrura: A = not, krura = cruel.

56. Yagneshwara: Here Sri Krishna / Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is called Yagneshwara.

Anybody who does any type of Yagna has to be done arpana (submitted) to Sri Krishna. Everything we are doing should be for Sri Vishnu.

Any yagna, any havissu has to be done arpana to Srimann Naarayana. Because he is the ultimate enjoyer. He is the ultimate giver. Yagneshwara: Yagna = all the yagna, eshwara / ishwara = Sri Krishna.

57. Srinivaasa (Srinivasa): Someone who is is living inside swayam Sri Mahalakshmi Devi. Srinivaasa: Sri = Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, nivaasa = living.

58. Venkatesha: He is the one who will cut down all our egos and he is the one who is the esha (ultimate) of everything and everyone in all these infinite universes.

Venkatesha: Ven = our ego, kata / kat = cutting down, esha / isha = ishavara / ultimate / supreme.

59. Baalaaji (Balaji): He is the one child who is not an ordinary and is the one who has to be given all the respect from our heart, mind, soul etc.

Baalaaji: Baalaa / Baal: A Child, ji: with respect. We call Sri Krishna, BaalaGopaala.

60. Tirumalesha: He is the one who is the eshavara / ishvara of swayam Sri Mahalakshmi Devi.

Someone and only one who can enjoy over Sri Devi. Tirumalesha: Tiru = Sri, ma = Sri Malalakshmi Devi, esha = ishavara / ultimate / supreme.

61. Tirupatinaatha (Tirupatinatha) (Tirupatinath) : Someone who is the pati (consort / husband) of swayam Sri Mahalakshmi Devi and he is the naatha (king) of Siri Devi.

Tirupatinaatha: Tiru = Sri = Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, pati = consort / husband, naatha = king.

62. Anjanaadrivaasa (Anjanadrivasa): He is the one who is living, where the mother of swayam Sri Anjaneya (Sri Hanuman), that is –

Sri Anjanaa Devi is living and did tapas to Sri Brahma Devi to get a veer and shoor son like Sri Hanumantha.

This place is the present Tirupati / Tirumala, where Sri Bhagavan is staying in this place in the name of Sri Srinivaasa / Sri Venkatesha.

Anjanaadrivaasa: Anjana: Sri Anjana Devi (mother of Sri Anjaneya / Sri Hanumantha), adri: a place with seven mountains, vaasa: living. Sri Srinivaasa is living in this place as ‘Anjanaadrivaasa’.

63. Sheshaachalavaasa (Sheshachalavasa): He is the one who is laying / sleeping over the swayam Sri Aadi Shesha Naaga and he is the one who is staying like a rock / mountain without any movement / immovable.

Sheshaachalavaasa: Shesha = Sri Aadi Shesha Naaga, achala = immovable / rock / mountain, vaasa = living.

64. VenkaTaadrivaasa (VenkaTadrivasa): A place where swayam Sri Venkatesha is living over all the seven mountains and he is also the king of all the seven mountains.

VenkaTaadrivaasa: VenkaTaa = Swayam Sri Bhagavan Sri Venkatesha, adri = seven mountains, vaasa = living.

65. VenkaTaachalapati (VenkaTachalapati): This is the place where swayam Sri Bhagavan, Sri Venkatesha is living.

Also He is the king of all the seven mountains of the same and he is staying in this place like a mountain / immovable.

VenkaTaachalapati: VenkaTaa = Swayam Sri Bhagavan / Sri Venkatesha, achala = immovable / rock / mountain, pati = king.

66. Neelaadrivaasa (Neeladrivasa): He is the one who is living in the blue seven mountains, that is swayam Sri Bhagavan Sri Srinivaasa / Sri Venkatesha.

Neelaadrivaasa: Neela = Blue, adri = seven mountains, vaasa = living.

67. Aanandaadrivaasa (Anandadrivasa): The Sri Paramaatma who is always in aananda (happy) and also who is called as Aananda is the one who lives in the seven mountains.

He is swayam Sri Srinivaasa / Sri Venkatesha.

Aanandaadrivaasa: Aananda = always happy and also whose name is Aananda, adri = seven mountains, vaasa = living.

68. GaruDaadrivaasa (GaruDaarivasa): He is the swayam Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu), who rides on the Sri GaruDa Deva and he is the one who lives in the seven mountains.

His name is none other than Sri Srinivaasa / Sri Venkatesha. GaruDaadrivaasa: GaruDa = Swayam Sri GaruDa Deva, adri = seven mountains, vaasa = living.

69. Vaishnava: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is known as Sri Vaishnava. Sri Vishnu is the aadi (grand first) and Sri Narayana is the ananta (grand infinite). Sri Vaishnava is the the sarvottama (supreme) / ultimate.

70. Narakari: There used to be a rakshasa (demon) called Narakaasura (NarakAsura) / BhoumAsura.

This demon had stolen the Sri Varuna Deva simhAsana’s (throne’s) chatri (umbrella) and Devata (demigods) mother Sri Aditi Devi’s ear rings.

Also this asura had kidnapped 16,100 young girls from all around the world.

To get the chatri & ear rings and also to free all the young girls, Sri Krishna along with his wife Sri SatyabhAma Devi attacks this rakshasa and kills him.

Thus Sri Krishna came to be known as Sri Narakari. Somebody who killed NarakAsura is known as Narakari.

71. MurAri (Muraari): He was a rakshasa named ‘MurA’, who was in the army of the rakshasa Narakaasura.

Sri Krishna kills MurA rakshasa and thus, Sri Krishna’s name came to be known as Sri MurAri. Somebody who killed Mura is known as ‘MurAri’.

72. Trivikrama: To send Balichakravarti to pAtAla loka, Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) takes the avatar of Sri VAmana Deva. In samskruta VAmana means a dwarf / short in height.

Sri VAmana Deva keeps his small and kamala (lotus) foot on upper planets once, lower planets once and the third step on the head of the Balichakravarti.

Since Sri VAmana keeps his right leg three times, Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) came to be known as Trivikrama.

Here Trivikrama: Tri = Three, vikrama = a wise, brave and strong person taking three steps, one after the another.

73. Upendra: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) in his Sri Vaamana (Vamana) avatar is called Sri Upendra Deva.

He is the one who is the brother of Sri Indra Deva. Mother of both Sri Upendra Deva and Sri Indra Deva is Sri Aditi Devi.

Upendra: Upa = Brother / another, Indra = Sri Indra Deva. Thus the total meaning of the Sri Upendra Deva is, someone who is upa (brother) of Sri Indra Deva, that Upa + Indra = Sri Upendra Deva.

(PLEASE DON’T COMPARE Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) / SRI UPENDRA DEVA / SRI VAMANA DEVA WITH SRI INDRA DEVA OR ANYBODY, AS NOBODY CAN BE EQUAL OR HIGHER THAN Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) IN ANY FORM.)

74. Aniruddha (Anirudha): Sri Krishna is the one who cannot be obstructed.

He is the one who is been prayed by anyone and everyone to get rid of all the obstables. Aniruddha: A = not, niruddha = obstacles.

75. Pradhyumya: Here, ‘Pra’ means greatest, vishista / विशिष्ट (conspicuous), prominent, noticeable etc, and Dyumna means glory, strength, affluence etc. 

Pradyumna means the sarvottama Bhagavan (Supreme God), the one with highly auspicious and infinite attributes glowing like suvarna / gold.

76. Ananta: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is called as Sri Ananta. Ananta means which is grand infinite. Someone who doesn’t have an end.

Everything and everybody will come into end at some point of time, but Sri Ananta (Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu)) cannot end.

Even Sri Brahma Deva, Sri Rudhra Deva, and many other demigods will come to an end at some point of time. But that ending never comes to Sri Ananta (Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu)).

77. Aadi (Adi) Deva: Srimann Narayana is called ‘Sri Aadi Deva’. This means someone who didn’t get birth.

Someone who doesn’t need anybody support. Aadi = grand first. There was nothing before Srimann Narayana.

Even Sri Brahma Deva gets birth from Sri PadmanAbha (Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu)). Even Sri Rudra Deva gets his birth from Sri Brahma Deva. But that would never happen with swayam Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu).

78. Niranjana: This is one of the Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) name. Few of the meanings of the word ‘anjana’ are coward, who is not courageous, with fear etc.

Thus the full meaning of the Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) name Sri Niranjana is, someone who is very infinitely courageous, who is ultimately fearless, one who is spotless, very wise, supremely powerful etc.

79. IndirApati (Indiraapati): Indira means swayam Sri Mahalakshmi Devi. Indira means of the highest radiant after Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu). Indira means, most beautiful and most attractive after Sri Krishna.

IndirApati means the consort of swayam Sri Mahalakshmi Devi / Sri Siri Devi / Sri Devi. IndirApati; IndirA = swayam Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, pati = consort / husband.

80. NikhilAdheesha (Nikhilaadhisha / Nikhiladhisha): Nikhilaa means it is entire, whole, full and including all the infinite universes.

Dheesha means, someone who is carrying the infinite universes, holding the infinite universes, protecting the infinite universes, etc.

Thus the meaning of the name Sri NikhilAdheesha is somebody who is carrying the whole infinite universes.

Here Sri NikhilAdheesha is carrying the whole infinite universes without any difficulty, without any problems, without any strain.

Very easily and without anybody’s support, Sri NikhilAdheesha is doing this since unknown ages and will do this for infinite age. Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is doing this to uphold us, to take us to Sri Vaikuntha.

Whoever understands this will by supported by swayam Srimann Narayana and someone who cannot understand this will have to go through rough patches everyday.

81. Sripati: Sri means swayam Sri Mahalakshmi Devi. pati means consort / husband. Thus full meaning of this name is Sri Mahalakshmi Devi’s consort / husband.

82. ShankhadhAri (Shankhadhaari): The divya (divine) roopa of Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) will always be holding a shankha called ‘pAnchajanya / paanchajanya’.

Dhaari means, someone who is holding. The full meaning of the Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) name Sri ShankhadhAri is, one who is holding the shankha.

83. ChakradhAri (Chakradhaari): The divya (divine) roopa of Srimann Narayana will always be holding a chakra called ‘sudarshana’.

Dhaari means, someone who is holding. The full meaning of the Srimann Narayana’s name Sri ChakradhAri is, one who is holding the chakra.

84. GadAdhAri (Gadaadhaari): The divya (divine) roopa of Sri Vishnu will always be holding a gadaa (mace) called ‘koumodini’.

Dhaari means, someone who is holding. The full meaning of the Sri Vishnu’s name Sri GadAdhAri is, one who is holding the gadaa.

85. KamaladhAri (Kamaladhaari): The divya (divine) roopa of Sripati will always be holding a kamala (lotus flower).

Dhaari means, someone who is holding. The full meaning of the Sripati’s name Sri KamaladhAri is, one who is holding the kamala.

86. ShArangadhAri (Shaarangadhaari): The divya (divine) roopa of Sri Krishna will always be holding a dhanush (bow).

Dhaari means, someone who is holding. The full meaning of the Sri Krishna’s name Sri ShArangadhAri is, one who is holding the bow.

87. NandakadhAri / NandakidhAri (Nandakadhaari / Nandakidhaari): The divya (divine) roopa of Sri RAma will always be holding a katti (sword).

Dhaari means, someone who is holding. The full meaning of the Sri RAma’s name Sri NandakadhAri is, one who is holding the sword.

88. Achala: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is known as Sri Achala. Achala: a = not, chala = without movement. The total meaning of Achala is someone who is ultimate aashirvaada (boon) giver.

Once Lord Sri Achala / Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) gives aashirvaada to his bhaktaadi (devotees / followers), than no one can stop that person to enjoy that boon.

Even Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, Sri Brahma Deva, Sri Mukhyapraana Deva (next Sri Brahma Deva), Sri Sarasvati Devi, Sri Bharati Devi (Sri Mukhyapraana Deva’s consort), Sri Rudhra Deva, Sri Tulasi Devi, Sri Paarvati Devi, or any other(s) cannot stop the boon.

Similarly if Sri Achala / Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) doesn’t wishes to help or give boon than nobody can help that person(s).

89. Adhbhuta: Sri Krishna is known Sri Adhbhuta. Meaning of this name is something extraordinary, the ultimate, no one is higher or equal to Sri Krishna.

Even whoever things to be or become higher or equal to Sri Krishna is a fool.

Because Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is the supreme, the sarvottama, sarveshvara, parameshwara, paramaatma. Words are not enough to explain who is Sri Raama is.

90. Aditya (Aaditya): Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) takes birth as Sri Vamana Deva (Sri Vaamana Deva) as the 5th avatar (avatara) in the dashavatar (dashavatara).

In this avatar Sri Vaamana Deva’s maathru (mother) was Sri Aditi Devi. Because of her maathru name Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) gets the name Sri Aaditya.

91. Ajanma (Ajanuma): Srimann Naaraayana (Narayana) is someone who is not born. He is doesn’t has the birth. He doesn’t has the end.

Ajanuma: A = not, januma = birth. Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) can be understood only by one, that is svayam Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu).

92. Ajaya (Ajay): Sri Krishna is known as Sri Ajaya. Ajaya: A = not, jaya = winner. The real and correct meaning of this name is, Sri Krishna cannot be won by anybody.

There is nothing like birth and death to him. He doesn’t get born or can’t be destroyed. He can win anybody, but nobody can win over him.

93. Akshara: Sri Raama (Sri Rama) cannot be conquered or destroyed by anyone. He is the ultimate winner.

Akshara: A = not, kshara = destroy. Total meaning of this name is someone who cannot be conquered or destroyed. In samskruta (sanskrit) another meaning of akshara is alphabet.

94. Amruta (Amrit): He is the one and only ambrosia / nectar to all. Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) or his any of the name is same. There is no difference between Sri Krishna or his infinite names.

Both are one and the same. Someone who differentiates Srimann Narayan and his names is a fool. Anybody who chants Sri Krishna’s names will be satisfied as he has drunk the ambrosia / nectar itself.

(Here ambrosia or nectar are just example given. Sri Krishna’s name is much much much……. highly sweeter than anything in this infinite universes).

95. Anaadhi (Anadhi): Sri Maha Vishnu is the first. There was nobody who was before Srimann Narayana.

There is no mother or father to the supreme Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu). Anaadhi: A = not, adhi = first. The total meaning of this name is Sri Narasimha Deva is the first and there was nobody before him.

96. Aananda Saagara (Ananda Sagar): Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) will always be in aananda (happiness). He is as happy as the saagara (cosmis ocean) itself.

(Here it is only an example to tell that Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is as happy as an ocean. But Sri Raama is as happy as infinite oceans. Sri Krishna is as happy as his names itself).

Aananda Saagara: Aananda = Happiness, Saagara = ocean.

97. Anantajita (Anantajit): Sri Krishna is the ever victorious. He is been not defeated until date / since aadi kaala and that won’t happen ever / ananta kaala.

Anantajita: Ananta = Grand first, jita = victorious.

98. Anaya: Sri Krishna doesn’t has or need a Guru or a leader. He knows anything and everything. He is always a giver and never a taker. Anaya: A = not, naya = guru or leader.

99. Aparaajita (Aparajita): Sri Raama is the one who cannot be defeated.

Even thinking in the dreams that Sri Raama can be defeated is like going to ghora naraka. Aparaajita: A = not, paraajita = defeated.

100. Avayukta (Avyukta): Sri Krishna is always clear about what he want to do or what his bhaktaadi want to do or follow.

He is crystal clear about any future dealings. His yukti / mind / thinking is always correct and crystal clear.

101. Baalagopaala (Balgopal): When Sri Krishna was young boy, he was called as Baala.

And since he was always loving to all the gopika and gopala, he was known as Gopal (Gopaal). Hence Sri Krishna is known as Sri Baalagopaala.

102. Chaturbhuja / Chaturbhujadhaari: Srimann Narayana in his divine form will be having chatur (four) bhuja (shoulders / hands).

With each hand holding one Shankha (couch) named Paanchajanya (Panchajanya), one Gadha (mace) named Koumudini, one Chakra (wheel) named Sudarshana and one Kamala (Lotus flower).

With these all four astras (weapons) Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is known as Sri Chaturbhujadhaari.

103. Daanavendra (Danavendra): Sri Krishna is the ultimate donor. What he can donate to others, nobody can even think of doing so.

Daanavendra: Daana = donor, vendra / indra = Indra / King among donors.

104. Dayaalu (Dayalu) Dayaanidhi (Dayanidhi): He is the supreme karunaa (kind) shaali. Sri Krishna is the ultimate compassionate one. Without his daya (kindness), no one can exist.

This is applicable even to Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, Sri Brahma Deva, Sri Mukhyapraana Deva (next Sri Brahma Deva), Sri Sarasvati Devi, Sri Bharati Devi (consort of Sri Mukhyapraana Deva), Sri Rudhra Deva, Sri Tulasi Devi, Sri Parvati Devi, etc.

105. Devaadideva (Devadideva) / Mahaadeva (Mahadeva): He is the ultimate / supreme Sri Bhagavan.

Without his grace nobody can live peacefully and happily. Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is the one with whose daya (kindness) Sri Mahalakshmi Devi is having such powers.

With Sri Krishna’s blessings, Sri Brahma Deva, Sri Mukhyapraana Deva, Sri Sarasvati Devi, Sri Bhaarati Devi are capable of leading a good and knowledgeable life.

Even Sri Rudhra Deva is born from the manas (mind) of Sri Brahma Deva.

Likewise all are somehow dependent on Srimann Narayana. With this Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is known as Devaadideva and Mahadeva.

Also, Sri Rudhra Deva is called Devaadideva or Mahadeva. This is also true. But the real meaning of this is that Sri Rudhra Deva is Devaadideva or Mahadeva among the demi gods.

That is starting from the Sri Indra Deva, Sri Shiva is more powerful.

ONE SHOULD ALWAYS UNDERSTAND THE REAL MEANING OF THE NAMES. MANY TIMES, ONE SINGLE WORD WILL BE HAVING DIFFERENT MEANINGS.

106. Devesha (Devesh): Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is known as Isha / Esha among all the other gods and demi gods. Devesha: Dev / Deva = God, Isha / Esha = ultimate / supreme.

Thus full meaning of the name is the god who is supreme among any other gods or demi gods or anything or anybody.

107. Dharmaadhyaksha (Dharmadhyaksh): Here Sri Krishna is known as Sri Dharmaadhyaksha.

He is the one who will make the correct dharma (judgement / rules & regulations) to work. If Sri Krishna says or does something, than it will automatically becomes dharma.

That’s why Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is known as Dharmaadhyaksha. Dharmaadhyaksha: Dharma = judgement / rules & regulations, adhyaksha = leader / king.

108. Gyaneshwara (Gyaneshwar): Sripati is known as full of gyana / gnana (knowledge). There is nobody who is having more or equal gnana as Sri Gyaneshwara.

Gyaneshwara: Gyan / Gyana / Gnana = full of knowledge / ultimate knowledge / supreme knowledge, Ishwara / Eshwara = Ultimate / supreme God.

The total meaning of this name is someone who is having the ultimate knowledge.

109. Hiranyagarbha: Sri Maha Vishnu, Sri Sarveshwara, Sri Sarvottama is called Sri Hiranyagarbha. He is someone who is having the golden womb.

In this golden / precious womb all the muktaatma (people who have got the mukti / moksha) are been resting and enjoying the fruits of their respective karma.

Hiranyagarbha: Hiranya = golden / precious, garbha = womb.

110. Jagadguru: Sri Hayagriya Swamy (Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu)) is called the Sri Jagadguru.

He is guru even to swayam Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, Sri Brahma Deva, Sri Mukhyapraana Deva (next Sri Brahma Deva), etc. His teachings are the most perfect and best teachings.

There was nobody who has teached like him, there is nobody who can teach like him and there will be nobody who will be able to teach in the future like Sri Hayagriya Swamy.

Jagadguru: Jagad = of all the infinite universes, guru = guru / teacher.

111. Jagannatha (Jagannath): Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) in called Sri Jagannatha. He is the natha of all the infinite universes. He is the protector of all the infinite universes.

That’s why Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is called Sri Jagannatha. Jagannatha: Jagan = of all the infinite universes, natha = prabhu / protector / king.

112. Jayanta (Jayant): Sri Krishna is called the Sri Jayanta. Who makes the anta (end) of all the enemies is called Sri Jayanta. No enemy can stand in front of Sri Krishna even for a multi mili seconds.

All the enemies will be destroyed within few unknown and highly limited time. But Sri Krishna always gives change to anybody and everybody to do good karma.

If someone continues to do bad karma, than definitely he will be punished without any regret. Jayanta: Jaya = winning, anta = Sri Krishna ends all his enemies.

113. Jyotiraaditya (Jyotiraditya): Sri Narayana is called Sri Jyotiraaditya. Srimann Narayana is the light / shine of unlimited suns.

Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is the one who gives the power to all the suns in infinite universes.

That’s why Sri Krishna is Sri Jyotiraaditya. Jyotiraaditya: Jyoti = Light / shine, aaditya = sun.

114. Kanjalochana: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is called Sri Kanjalochana, as the one who is having the eyes like that of the lotus flower. Kanjalochana: Kanja = lotus flower, lochana = eyes.

115. Lokaadhyaksha (Lokadhyaksha): Sri Maha Vishnu is called Sri Lokaadhyaksha. He is the one who is the head / leader / king of all the infinite universes.

Lokaadhyaksha: Loka = of all the infinite universes, adhyaksha = head / leader / king.

116. Madanamohana (Madanamohan): Sri Krishna is called Sri Madanamohana. Sri Krishna is as beautiful as the infinite Madana (Demi God of Love / Sri Kaama Deva).

Even if unlimited Madana are put together, than also they cannot look as beautiful of Sri Krishna.

Because, Sri Krishna is ultimately beautiful. That’s why Sri Krishna is called as Sri Krishna. That is the most / ultimately / supremely attractive.

Madanamohana: Madana = Sri Kaama Deva, Mohana = ultimately beautiful / supremely attractive.

117. Mahendra: Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) is called Sri Mahendra. He is the one who is mahan than anybody or anything.

He is the Maha Indra, that is he is the most ultimate / supreme of all the demigods starting from Sri Mahalakshmi Devi, Sri Brahma Deva to anybody or anything.

Mahendra: Maha = Mahan / great, Indra = ultimate king (Here Indra means not the Sri Indra Deva).

It should also be noted that Sri Indra Deva is also called Sri Mahendra. Sri Indra Deva is also having very good powers.

But, he is having the powers which is regarded as the power which can be limited to his title, to his level.

NEVER COMPARE ANYBODY OR ANYTHING WITH SRI KRISHNA / Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu).

118. Manamohana: Sri Krishna is known as Sri Manamohana. He is the one who would steal everybody’s and everyything’s heart. He is the supremely attractive. He is the most ultimate.

No one can be as pleasing as Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) or greater than Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu). Manamohana: Mana = manas / mind, mohana = ultimately beautiful / supremely attractive.

119. Manohara: Sri Raama is called Sri Manohara. He is someone who is as beautiful as himself. No one can be compared with Sri Raama’s beauty.

He is the one who would kidnap anybody’s mana (mind / heart). Manohara: Mano = mana / manas / mind / heart, hara = kidnap.

120. Mayooradhara (Mayuradhara): Sri Krishna is Sri Mayooradhara. When Sri Krishna wears the mayura pankha (peacock’s feather), that mayura pankha gets most ultimate glow and shine.

He is the one who is wearing the mayura pankha on his head. Mayooradhara: Mayoora = peacock’s pankha / feather, dhara = wearer.

121. Sri Shoonya: When nothing was there, Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu) name is called Sri Shoonya. This means, Sri Hari is called ‘prapitamaha’, means GREAT GRAND FIRST.

Before Lord Sri Hari (Lord Sri Vishnu), nobdy / nothing was there. He is the sarvottma, sarveshvara, parameshva, Ishvara, Paramaatma, he has ananta naama (great greand infinite names).

Some people say Sri Shoonya means nothing / blank. These people are called as “moorkha” (fools) in our great Shaastras, they have misunderstood the tatva / real truth.
