Just before going to “Why was Hanuman unable to recognise Sanjivani booti (herb) (correct story) | Who stopped Hanuman taking Sanjeevani? | Who stopped hanuman while going to Lanka | Where is Sanjeevani Booti (herb) found now? | Why did Hanuman brought Sanjeevani Booti (herb)? | Who tells Hanuman about Sanjeevani?“, let us know a brief, basic and very important information.
Hanuman parents names are : Kesari (father), Añjanā (mother). | Hanuman siblings (brothers) names are : Matiman, Shrutiman, Ketuman, Gatiman and Dhritiman. |
Who is the greatest devotee of Lord Sri Rama : Lord Hanuman is the greatest devotee of Lord Sri Rama, after Goddess Sri Sita Devi. | Texts : Moola Ramayana, Valmiki Ramayana, Srimad Bhagavatam, and others. |
Abode of Hanuman are : Meru Mountain (birth), Kishkinda (stayed with parents and others) and Ayodhya (after the Lanka war). |
Hanuman weapon(s) names are : Gada (mace). He is capable of using almost all the weapons expect Lord Sri Rama (Vishnu) weapons and Goddess Sri Sita Devi (Lakshmi) weapons.
Was Hanuman ignorant (mindless / fool) to not to recognize the Sanjeevani booti (aushadi) (herb) (plant) (medicine) in the Himalayas?
Let us understand this according to original Ramayana, that is, ‘Moola Raamayana’ and ‘Valmiki Ramayana’.
We should note that in both ‘Moola Ramayana’ and ‘Valmini Ramaya’, it is very clearly written that Hanuman is the next Lord Sri Brahma Deva.
If such is the case, then how come Hanuman was not able to recognize Sanjeevani Booti (herb) (plant)?
The present Kalpa’s Lord Sri Brahma Deva’s name is called as ‘Virinchi’ (विरिन्ची) (virin̄cī) and his 51st year is running as per Satya Loka (Brahma Loka), that is, his present age 50+ years.
After the present Lord Sri Brahma Deva completes his 100 years as per the Satya Loka, a new Lord Sri Brahma will take over the Lord Sri Brahma Deva position.
The new Lord Sri Brahma Deva is non other than our own Hanuman.
In the Moola Ramayana (Original Ramayana) and Srimad Valmiki Ramayana it is written very clearly that after Lakshmana became unconscious with the arrows of Meghanada (some people pronounce it as Meghnath or Meghanatha, which is incorrect).
Who tells Hanuman about Sanjeevani? : Lakshmana was badly wounded in the Lanka war. In this desperate hour, Hanuman approached the ‘Vanara vaidya’, that is, ‘Doctor in the Monkey camp’ by name ‘Sushena’ for help. Sushena is an avatar of Lord Sri Varuna Deva.
[In TV serials and movies Sushena is depicted as the ‘Raja Vaidya’ (Royal Doctor) of Lanka, which is not as per Moola Ramayana or Valmiki Ramayana.]
Thus, Hanuman was asked by Sushena to fetch the ‘Mrita Sanjivani’ herb from the mount called ‘Dronagiri’ in the Himalayas.
‘Sushena’ (Doctor in the Monkey camp) has mentioned that on Himalayas, between Kailash and Rishabh mountains, there lies a mountain of life giving herbs.
The herbs are of four categories:
1. Mritsanjivani (divine life saver). | 2. Vishalyakarani (someone who would had been attacked using arrows). |
3. Suvarnakarani (for golden skin color), and | 4. Sandhanakarani (for skin color).
In this, the Mritasanjivani always emit light. Sushena told Hanuman to bring those herbs as soon as possible.
Lord Sri Rama immediately asks Hanuman to go to the Himalayas and bring the Sanjivani moolika / booti / herb / aushadi (Divine medicinal plants).
With this Lord Sri Rama’s order, Hanuman accepts the words of Lord Sri Rama immediately and quickly starts towards Himalaya parvata (mountain).
After reaching Himalaya parvata (mountain), Hanuman immediately recognizes the Sanjivani booti (plant) (herb) (aushadi).
We must keep in mind that Hanuman is not an ordinary vanara (monkey man) and he is svayam (directly) Lord Sri Mukhyaprana Deva (Lord Sri Vayu Deva) avatar and will become the next Lord Sri Brahma Deva.
As soon as Hanuman sees the Sanjivani booti (moolika) (aushadi) (herb) (plant), all these herbs (booti) (mulika) bends its body and gives respect to the great Hanuman.
These booti (moolika) (herbs) (plants) were spread all over every corner of the mountain and since there was very short time to reach back Lanka.
Why did Hanuman brought Sanjeevani Booti (herb)? : Thus, Hanuman wasting no time immediately picks up the whole mountain and thus immediately starts towards Lanka. In this way the life of the Lakshmana and other monkeys was saved.
[Note : if Hanuman kept on picking up each of the Sanjivani booti (herbs), then the time consumption would had been more]
Who stopped Hanuman taking Sanjeevani? or Who stopped hanuman while going to Lanka? : In the divine epic Ramayana, Kalanemi was Maricha’s son and minister of Ravana and was assigned to kill Hanuman.
Whereas, Jalandhara’s wife Vrinda, was Kalanemi’s daughter. Kalanemi was an expert in shape shifting and a great trickster.
Kalanemi was sent by Ravana to kill Hanuman, and to stop him from taking herbs for Lakshmana and monkeys.
Our Hanuman wrapped Kalanemi in his tail with ease, and threw him into Lanka and was eventually killed.
This same Kalanemi with the same name was the son of Hiranyaksha (Brother of Hiranyakashipu) and the brother of Andhakasura. In this birth (Son of Hiranyaksha), Kalameni was killed by Lord Sri Vishnu.
Again this Kalanemi was reborn as Kamsa in Mathura as the mama (Maternal uncle) of Lord Sri Krishna. Many of us know that Kamsa was killed by Lord Sri Krishna.
Where is Sanjeevani Booti (herb) found now? : Sanjeevani Booti (herbs) mountain is located on the slopes of the Himalayas near Badrinath in Uttarakhand, known as the ‘Valley of Flowers’.
Few plants have been proposed as potential candidates as Sanjeevani plants (herbs) including Selaginella bryopteris, Dendrobium plicatile, Cressa cretica and others.
The Sanjeevani Booti (herb), believed to have life giving medicinal properties in Ayurvedic medicine, has been searched unsuccessfully for centuries, even into modern times.
The search was conducted in the Dronagiri range of the Himalayas near the border with China. The Valmiki Ramayana mentions a mountain believed to be the Dronagiri range, where a magical herb grows.
In TV serials and movies, it is never shown that other varanas (monkeys) were also had been given with these booti (moolika) (aushadi) (herbs) (plants).
But in Moola Ramayana and Valmiki Ramayana, it is very clearly mentioned that not only Lakshmana was given this booti (herbs) (moolika), but many other vanaras (monkeys) were also given these booti (herbs) (moolika).
WE SHOULD UNDERSTAND HERE THAT HANUMAN WAS IN NO DOUBT OR DILEMMA IN FINDING OUT THE CORRECT BOOTI (HERBS) (MOOLIKA) AS PER MOOLA RAMAYANA AND VALMIKI RAMAYANA.
INSTEAD, HANUMAN PICKS UP THE WHOLE MOUNTAIN TO SAVE THE TIME, SO THAT HE CAN REACH LANKA QUICKLY AND BEFORE TIME.
