Just before going to “Vakula (Bakula) Devi (full) information (Story) | Who is the mother of Sri Venkateswara Swamy?“, let us have a brief some brief information.

Let us know “who Sri Vakula (Bakula) Devi is?”:

Sri Bakula Devi, is the wife of a Vasu (read as Vasu and not as Vaasu) named Drona (not Dronacharya) and this Drona’s wife is Sri Dhara Devi (धरा देवी) (Dhārā dēvī) (Sri Bakula Devi is an avatar of this Sri Dhara Devi).

Sri Dhara Devi is the abhimani devata (Controlling Demigod) for the Bhoomi (earth) in tirtha kshetra (divine pilgrimage place).

During Lord Sri Krishna’s avatar, Sri Yashoda Devi was the mother of Lord Sri Krishna (Lord Sri Krishna is an avatar of Lord Sri Vishnu).

But Sri Yashoda Devi was under the impression that Lord Sri Krishna is her own son, even though she knows that he is the Bhagavan (God).

Because of this, Sri Yashoda Devi could not see any of Lord Sri Krishna’s marriage. Sri Yashoda Devi had asked Lord Sri Krishna to allow her to see his marriage.

And thus Lord Sri Krishna had assured to Sri Vakula (Bakula) Devi that in Kali Yuga when she is again born as Sri Vakula Devi,

Lord Sri Krishna in his avatar of Lord Sri Srinivasa (Venkatesha) (Venkateswara) (Balaji) will marry Goddess Sri Padmavati Devi.

Now, Sri Yashoda Devi is reborn as Sri Bakula (Vakula) Devi to see the Kalyanotsavam (divine marriage) of Lord Sri Srinivasa and Goddess Sri Padmavati Devi.

Lord Sri Srinivasa was moving in Venkatachalam (Today’s Tirupati) like a prakrita manushya (ordinary human).

daityānāṁ mōhanārthāya surāṇāṁ mōdanāya ca | krīḍatē krīḍanakai: Kr̥ṣṇa: Jagatpālaka bālaka: |

Meaning of this shloka is as given here : Our Bhagavan (God), that is, jagatpalaka (Sustainer of the multiverse) Lord Sri Krishna used to play like in Venkatachalam for:

asura jana mohanaartham‘ (for the infatuation of the demons / ill-minded people) and for ‘modana‘ (gratification) of all the sajjanas (divine minded people) (Devatas) (Demigods).

This is the real story of the Sri Bakula (Vakula) Devi. Very clearly Bakula Devi in her earlier life had been born as Sri Yashoda Devi.

And per her request, Lord Sri Krishna shown her the marriage (as Lord Sri Srinivasa) with Goddess Sri Padmavati Devi.

Vakula (Bakula) Devi and Lord Sri Srinivation information is as given below:

In Venkatachalam (Venkatadri) (Today’s Tirupati Hills / Tirumala), Lord Sri Srinivasa and Lord Sri Varaha Svamy both are staying for loka mohanaartham (to uplift the good people and to do the infatuation of the demonic people).

Lord Sri Varaha Svamy sent in Sri Bakula (Vakula) Devi to do the seva (serve) of Lord Sri Srinivasa, who used to serve with:

Vishesha anna (Special food), ksheera (Milk) and others paaneeya samarpana (serving other divine drinks) to Lord Sri Srinvasa.

Sri Bakula (Vakula) Devi was medicating Lord Sri Srinivasa and was also used to blow hand fan (हस्त चलित पंखा) when Lord Sri Srinivasa was sleeping, etc.

Vakulamatha temple : At about 10 km from Tirumala Hills, there is a special temple for Vakulamatha (Mother Vakula / Bakula) built about 300 years ago on a rocky hill in Perurbanda village.

The temple is built facing the seven hills of Tirumala, where her son (Lord Sri Srinivasa) resides permanently.

This temple of Vakulamatha is situated on a hill at Peruru, 5 km from the temple city of Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh (10 km from Tirumala Hills).

Earlier, the first puja was performed here, then the puja started in the main temple of Tirumala, then when Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan invaded Chandragiri, the temple faced its share of plunder and looting and the temple became defunct and lost its former glory.

As per mother Vakula’s wish, this temple was built in such a way that her face faces the seven hills of Tirumala, where her son Lord Sri Venkateswara resides.

In the Kali Yuga, Vakula (Bakula) Devi arranged the Lord Sri Srinivasa’s marriage with Goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi.

The temple was renovated as per ‘Agama Shastra’ (आगम शास्त्र) and the ‘Gopuram’ was opened to the public on 23rd June 2022 with the support of TTD with 20 kg gold plating.
