Just before going to “List of Hindu Gods & Goddesses vehicle (vahanas) names“, let us know a brief, basic and very important information.

Dear friends, do you know that starting from Lord Vishnu, Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi all the Hindu Gods and Goddesses have different vehicles. In Sanskrit vehicle means vahanas or vahanams or vahans. Vehicles or Vahanas can also be called as mounts in English.

Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma is having rich heritage and this Dharma is staying on this earth since the ‘aadi kalam’, that is, grand unknown time and will definitely last long until the ‘ananta kalam’, that is, grand infinite time.

Hinduism or Sanatana Dharma can’t be called as mere religion, no, never. Sanatana Dharma means, a Dharma which can never become ‘anatha’, that is, orphan. This is the basic meaning of Sanatana Dharma.

List of Hindu Gods and Goddesses vehicle (vahanas) names are as given below:

Garuda : Lord Vishnu vehicle is Garuda

Simha & Garuda : Padma Purana and Srimad Bhagavatam says that Goddess Lakshmi vehicle is Garuda and Simha (Lion) and not owl. Owl is considered as bad omen in Hinduism and it is the vehicle of Alakshmi (Kali Yuga’s Kali’s wife).

Hamsa (Hansa) : Lord Brahma vehicle is Hamsa (Swan)

Hamsa : Goddess Saraswati Devi vehicle is Hamsa (Swan).

Hamsa : Lord Mukhya Praana (Main Vayu Deva) vehicle is Hamsa (Swan). He is next Brahma Deva in the next Kalpa.

Hamsa : Goddess Bharati vehicle is Hamsa (Swan). She will be next Saraswati Devi in the next Kalpa.

Nandi : Lord Shiva vehicle is Nandi.

Simha & Nandi : Goddess Parvati vehicle is Nandi and Simha (Lion).

Airavata : Lord Indra vehicle is Airavata (Airavat) / Elephant.

Airavata : Goddess Sachi (Lord Indra consort) vehicle is Airavata (Airavat) / Elephant.

Shuka : Lord Kama and Goddess Rati vehicle is Shuka (Parrot).

Sapta Ashwas : Lord Surya and his consorts Sanjnya Devi and Chhaya Devi vehicle is Sapta Ashwas (Seven horses).

Mriga : Lord Chandra vehicle is Mriga (Deer).

Mriga : Lord Pravaha Vayu (Son of Lord Vayu Deva) vehicle name is Mriga (Deer).

Mahisha : Lord Yama vehicle name is Mahisha (Baffalo).

Makara : Lord Varuna vehicle name is Makara (Crocodile).

Flying (No vehicle) : Devarishi Narada doesn’t has any vehicle. He travels with the blessings of Lord Vishnu by flying.

Mesha : Lord Agni vehicle name is Mesha (Goat).

Mushaka : Lord Ganesha vehicle name is Mushaka (Mushak) / Mouse.

Mayura : Lord Kartikeya vehicle name is Mayura (Peacock).

Manushya Palki : Lord Kubera vehicle name is Manushya Palki (People carry on Palanquin).

Manushya : Niritti (Nirṛti) vehicle name is Manushya (People carry him).

Svarna Ratha : Lords Ashwini Kumaras vehicle is Svarna Ratha (Golden Chariot).
