Just before going to “How humble & great was Lord Rama | What are Lord Rama’s good qualities? | What are the three noble qualities of Rama? | What are Rama’s virtues? | What is unique about Rama?“, let us know a brief, basic and very important information.
We all know that Lord Sri Vishnu’s avatar is Lord Sri Rama Chandra Prabhu. There is no difference between Lord Sri Vishnu and Lord Sri Rama.
Lord Sri Rama was the most humble personality we have ever known. And indeed, Lord Sri Rama is the greatest warrior the unlimited multiverses have ever seen.
Lord Sri Krishna who is an another avatar of Lord Sri Vishnu says in the great Bhagavad Gita says, “I am the Rama among all the warriors”.
Lord Sri Rama learnt the Dhanur-vidya (archery) under the mentorship of the Maharshi Vashishtha.
(We should always remember that Lord Sri Vishnu or any of his avatars doesn’t need to learn anything from anyone.)
(Here, Lord Sri Rama is doing this as a vidambana (pastimes), as Lord Sri Rama want to show to the world, how to respect a Guru? And how to follow Guru’s words?).
Also, the Brahmarshi Vishwamitra gave greatest Devastras (divine weapons) like Bala, Ati Bala etc. to Lord Sri Rama and his brother Lakshmana.
[I am again repeating this is only vidambana (pastimes), to teach the world (only for loka shikshanaartham – to teach to the common people) and in reality Lord Sri Rama doesn’t take anything from others.]
Similarly Maharshi Agastya gave great weapons like Lord Sri Vishnu’s bow, Lord Sri Indra Deva’s quiver (this quiver was never getting exhausted), also gem studded divine sword etc. was also given to Lord Sri Rama.
List of the humbleness and greatness (qualities) (uniqueness) of Lord Sri Rama are as given below:
1. Shiva Dhanush: Lord Sri Rama without a drop of effort lifts the Lord Shiva’s Dhanush (bow).
We should note that to bring this great Dhanush (bow) a big chariot type of vehicle was used, in which around 50,000 heavily built muscled people were used to pull this chariot which was carrying this great Dhanush (bow).
2. About Subahu and Maricha: Lord Sri Rama with his two simultaneous arrows kills an asura (demon) named Subahu and also throws away another asura (demon) named Maricha seven seas away.
3. Khara and Dhushana : Lord Sri Rama again without any effort with highest ease kills two demons named Khara and Dhushana.
Along with them Lord Sri Rama also kills over 40,000 of Khara and Dhushana’s soldiers within 14 minutes singlehandedly.
4. Tataka : Lord Sri Rama Chandra Prabhu kills a demoness called Tataka with just an arrow.
(Tataka again takes birth as Putana during the Mahabharata period and gets killed by Lord Sri Vishnu’s another avatar of Lord Sri Krishna).
5. Tolerance against Lord Sri Varuna Deva (Samudra Deva / Ocean Demigod) : Lord Sri Rama Chandra Prabhu waited for 3 days for Lord Sri Varuna Deva.
But when Lord Sri Varuna Deva doesn’t appears in front of Lord Sri Rama Chandra Prabhu, only at this juncture Lord Sri Rama takes his bow and arrow to shoot at Lord Sri Varuna Deva (Ocean God).
This shows how tolerant is our Lord Sri Rama. Our Lord Bhagavan Sri Rama is the most tolerant. Lord Sri Rama gives chance to everyone.
But, Lord Sri Rama also know how to punish who doesn’t follow the Sanatana Dharma. He knows everything.
6. Shabari and her fruits : Lord Sri Rama is called “dayaa mayi” (the most kind hearted). Lord Sri Rama accepts the fruits from Shabari.
(In TV serials and movies it is been shown that Shabari gives the already tasted fruits to Lord Sri Rama, which is completely incorrect as per both Moola Ramayana and Valmiki Ramayana.)
7. Kaikeyi : Even though Kaikeyi gives punishment to our Lord Sri Rama Chandra Prabhu to go to vanavasam (forest exile), our Lord Sri Rama is called as ‘karunanidhi’ (most kind hearted) accepts this as an offer and immediately leaves “Ayodhya” for ‘vanavasa yatra’ (takes this like a vocation).
8. Ravana’s hate : Even though Ravana hates our Lord Sri Rama throughout his life, our Lord Sri Rama Chandra Prabhu is so so so ‘karunashaali’ (too too too kind hearted) –
that still our Lord Sri Rama forgives the demon natured Ravana and gives ‘sadgati’ (here sad = highest, gati = virtue ) to Ravana.
[In Ravana there were two beings, one was Jaya, the gatekeeper of Vaikuntha and another was Hiranyakashipu (Hiranyakashyap). Sadgati is given to Jaya and punishment was given to Hiranyakashipu (Hiranyakashyap).]
