Hinduism's original name is Sanatana Dharma.
May be one of the first person who said that earth was round was Galileo. But was he the first person to show or any other European or in matter any other non-Bharatiya (non-Indian)?
Some say that, Ferdinand Magellan (with Antonio Pigafetta) had already sailed around the world, before Galileo became significant in the next century.
Galileo said the earth was round, and also some say that all educated Europeans of the time knew that the earth was round and had known it from the time of Aristotle and Aristarchus of Samos, they had known and accepted it for almost 2000 years before itself.
Some say, only the uneducated thought the world was flat, if they considered the shape at all.
Some say that the Greeks knew it was round, as did others in history prior to Galileo.
Some say it was to the world and the Church, whether the earth was round or flat....
