Just before going to “List of Manvantaras (Indras and Manus) names“, let us know a brief basic and very important information.

Bhagavan Lord Sri Narayana (Lord Sri Vishnu) sleeping on a leaf and water before the start of a new Kalpa.

And thus His name is Sri Narayana (In Sanskrit Nara = water and ayana means resting / sleeping).

In Hindu Sanatana Dharma, Manvantara is a cyclic period of time identifying the time frame, monarchy, age etc. of a Manu.

Here a Manu is the ancestor of the mankind. The present Manu name is called as ‘Vivasvana Manu’.

In every Manvantara, seven Rishis, certain Devatas / Demigods, an Indra, a Manu, and Kings are created.

And similarly at the end of the Manvantara they are perished in the same way.

Each Manvantara is distinguished by an unique Manu who rules that particular Manvantara.

We are currently in the seventh Manvantara of fourteen, which is ruled by Shraddhadeva Manu.

List of Manvantaras (Manus) names are as given below:

Svayambhuva

Svarochisha

Uttama

Tapasa

Raivata

Chakhusha

Shraddhadeva

Savarni

Dakshasavarni

Brahmasavarni

Dharmasavarni

Rudrasavarni

Rouchya

Bhoutya

More explanation is as given below about Manvantaras, Indras and Manus:

[Each manvantara (era) is ruled over by a Manu]

1. Svayambhuva : The first Manu of this Kalpa is Svayambhuva.

Shatakratu held the title of Indra during this manvantara.

2. Svarochisha : The second Manu was Svarochisha.

Vipashchita held the title of Indra during this manvatara.

3. Uttama : The third Manu was Uttama and Sushanti was Indra then.

4. Tapasa : The fourth Manu was Tapasa and Shikhi held the title of Indra then.

5. Raivata : The fifth Manu was Raivata and Vitatha was Indra then.

6. Chakhusha : The title of Indra was held by Manojava during the sixth manvantara, the Manu being Chakhusha.

7. Shraddhadeva : Next came Shraddhadeva, the seventh Manu, Purandara being the Indra.

(These are the present time Manu and Indra).

8. Savarni : The eighth Manu’s name is Savarni and the eighth Indra’s Vali.

The eighth manvantara has not yet come.

9. Dakshasavarni : The ninth Manu will be Dakshasavarni and the ninth Indra will be Adbhuta.

10. Brahmasavarni : During the tenth manvantara, the Manu will be Brahmasavarni and the title of Indra will beheld by Shanti.

11. Dharmasavarni : During the rule of the eleventh Manu Dharmasavarni, the Indra will be Gana.

12. Rudrasavarni : The twelfth Manu will be Rudrasavarni and the twelfth Indra will be Ritadhama.

13. Rouchya : Rouchya will be the thirteenth Manu and Divaspati will be the thirteenth Indra.

14. Bhoutya : The fourteenth Manu will be Bhoutya and the title of Indra will then be held by Shuchi.

During each of Sri Brahma Deva’s day, there will be fourteen such Manvantaras.

After that comes Brahma’s night, when all these living beings are destroyed.

Sri Brahma Deva is sitting on a Padma (lotus) and coming out from the navel of Sri Hari and thus Sri Hari is known as Sri Padmanabha

But it should be remembered that according to Bharatiya Sanatana Dharma –

the universe will be definitely be destroyed after the each Maha Kalpa.

But also we should remember that after this –

again a new start will take place with the birth of a new Sri Brahma Deva and Lord Rudra with the blessings of Bhagavan Sri Vishnu.

EVERYTHING WILL BE GOOD AND EVERYTHING WILL BE AS PER OUR SANATANA DHARMA.

AND EVERYTHING WILL BE AS PER THE WISHES OF BHAGAVAN SRIMANN NARAYANA.
