How merciful is Lord Vishnu (Krishna) | What is Garuda, Maninaga story Namaste friends, how are you doing today? Bhagavan Sri Vishnu blessings to you and your family! Ananta Naaga (or Aadi Shesha Naaga) had a putram (son) named Maninaga. Garuda Raja was the shatru (enemy) of the Sarpa Jaati (snake family) and the sarpas (snakes) were all had bhayam (afraid) of Garuda. Maninaga once done a tapasya to Lord Shiva.  Having pleased Lord Shiva, Maninaga obtained the ashirvadam (blessings) that Garuda would not be able to do any haani (harm) to Maninaga.  Armed with this ashirvadam (blessings), Maninaga started to do paryaatanam (moving around) around with full of swatantram (freedom) and did not run away even when faced with Garuda. Garuda found this to be atyanta vichitram (very strange). Although he could not make hatyam (kill) of Maninaga, he captured him and kept him imprisoned in his own gruham (house).
