Just before moving towards to know about “Śrī Krishna Dvādaśa Nāma Stōtram (12 Names) with Meaning (Sanskrit, Kannada, English) | Sri Krishna Dwadasha Nama Stotram“, let us know few basic and important information.

Lord Sri Krishna, just name is enough for us to get the complete moksha (divine liberation) from all the material and spiritual things of this earth.

Lord Sri Krishna is the 8th avatar of Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu and was born in the 28th Dvapara Yuga as the 8th son of Devaki Devi and Vasudeva (वसुदेव) on the 8th day (ashtami tithi), Krishna Paksha (Waning Moon), Shravana Masam (month) at midnight during the Chandrodaya (Moonset time).

Lord Sri Krishna’s avatar’s main aim was to end the Adharma (Which is not in line with Sanatana Dharma) and the Adharmis (Who don’t follow the Sanatana Dharma and who always try to cause obstacles and are against the Dharma).

Bhagavan Lord Sri Krishna slayed unlimited number of Adharmis (Asuras / demons) including Kamsa, Shishupala, Charnoora, Putana, Trinavarta, Dhenukasura, Narakasura, etc.

Now, let’s move to “Śrī Krishna Dvādaśa Nāma Stōtram | Sri Krishna Dwadasha Nama Stotram”:

Sri Krishna Dvādaśa (Dwadasha) Nama Stotram: Here Dvādaśa or Dwadasha Nama Stotram means, Sri Krishna = Sri Krishna’s, Dwadasha = 12, Nama = Names, Stotram = Hymn, that is, praising Sri Krishna and his names.

First you can find the stotram (hymn) in Sanskrit (Hindi), Kannada and English languages and then later, you can also find it’s meaning.

Śrī Krishna Dvādaśa Nāma Stōtram | Sri Krishna Dwadasha Nama Stotram in Sanskrit (Hindi) is as given below:

प्रथमं तु हरिं विद्यात द्वितीयं केशवं तथा |
तृतीयं पद्मनाभं तु चतुर्थं वामनं तथा || १ ||

पंचमं वेदगर्भं च षष्ठं तु मधुसूदनम |
सप्तमं वासुदेवं च वराहं चाष्टमं तथा || २ ||

नवमं पुंडरीकाक्षं दशमं तु जनार्धनम |
कृष्णमेकादशं प्रोक्तं द्वादशं श्रीधरं तथा || ३ ||

एतत्द्वादश नामानि मया प्रोक्तानि फाल्गुन |
कालत्रये पठेद्यस्तु तस्य पुण्यफलं श्रुणु || ४ ||

चांद्रायण सहस्रस्य कन्यादान शतस्य च |
अश्वमेध सहस्रस्य फलमाप्नोति मानवः || ५ ||

Śrī Krishna Dvādaśa Nāma Stōtram | Sri Krishna Dwadasha Nama Stotram in Kannada is as given below:

ಪ್ರಥಮಂ ತು ಹರಿಂ ವಿದ್ಯಾತ್ ದ್ವಿತೀಯಂ ಕೇಶವಂ ತಥಾ |
ತೃತೀಯಂ ಪದ್ಮನಾಭಂ ತು ಚತುರ್ಥಂ ವಾಮನಂ ತಥಾ || 1 ||

ಪಂಚಮಂ ವೇದಗರ್ಭಂ ಚ ಷಷ್ಠಂ ತು ಮಧುಸೂದನಮ್ |
ಸಪ್ತಮಂ ವಾಸುದೇವಂ ಚ ವರಾಹಂ ಚಾಷ್ಟಮಂ ತಥಾ || 2 ||

ನವಮಂ ಪುಂಡರೀಕಾಕ್ಷಂ ದಶಮಂ ತು ಜನಾರ್ದನಮ್ |
ಕೃಷ್ಣಮೇಕಾದಶಂ ಪ್ರೋಕ್ತಂ ದ್ವಾದಶಂ ಶ್ರೀಧರಂ ತಥಾ || 3 ||

ಏತದ್ದ್ವಾದಶ ನಾಮಾನಿ ಮಯಾ ಪ್ರೋಕ್ತಾನಿ ಫಲ್ಗುನ |
ಕಾಲತ್ರಯೇ ಪಠೇದ್ಯಸ್ತು ತಸ್ಯ ಪುಣ್ಯಫಲಂ ಶೃಣು || 4 ||

ಚಾಂದ್ರಾಯಣಸಹಸ್ರಸ್ಯ ಕನ್ಯಾದಾನಶತಸ್ಯ ಚ |
ಅಶ್ವಮೇಧಸಹಸ್ರಸ್ಯ ಫಲಮಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಮಾನವಃ || 5 ||

Śrī Krishna Dvādaśa Nāma Stōtram | Sri Krishna Dwadasha Nama Stotram in English is as given below:

prathamaṁ tu hariṁ vidyāt dvitīyaṁ kēśavaṁ tathā |
tr̥tīyaṁ padmanābhaṁ tu caturthaṁ vāmanaṁ tathā || 1 ||

pan̄camaṁ vēdagarbhaṁ ca ṣaṣṭhaṁ tu madhusūdanam |
saptamaṁ vāsudēvaṁ ca varāhaṁ cāṣṭamaṁ tathā || 2 ||

navamaṁ puṇḍarīkākṣaṁ daśamaṁ tu janārdanam |
kr̥ṣṇamēkādaśaṁ prōktaṁ dvādaśaṁ śrīdharaṁ tathā || 3 ||

ētaddvādaśa nāmāni mayā prōktāni phalguna |
kālatrayē paṭhēdyastu tasya puṇyaphalaṁ śr̥ṇu || 4 ||

cāndrāyaṇasahasrasya kan’yādānaśatasya ca |
aśvamēdhasahasrasya phalamāpnōti mānavaḥ || 5 ||

Śrī Krishna Dvādaśa Nāma Stōtram (12 Names) meaning is as given below:

First Sloka : The first name is Lord Sri Hari the knowledge, second one is Lord Sri Keshava, Third one is he who has a lotus on his belly, And the fourth one is Lord Sri Vamana, the little boy.

Second Sloka : The fifth is he who has Vedas in his stomach, Sixth one is he who killed the Asura called Madhu, The seventh one is the son of Vasudeva (वसुदेव), And the eighth one is Lord Sri Varaha the boar.

Third Sloka : The ninth is the God with lotus like eyes, The tenth is God to whom people pray, The eleventh is Lord Sri Krishna, the God who is black, And twelfth is the God who carries Goddess Sri Lakshmi.

Fourth Sloka : Arjuna told that those who chant these twelve names, At dawn, noon and dusk, the following good results will occur.

Fifth Sloka : They (Chanters) will get the result of performing, One thousand Chandrayanas, Or get the effect of giving a girl in marriage, Or get the effect of performing one thousand Ashwamedha Yagnas.
