Just before going to “Lord Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam (marriage) story – Part 5 of Part 5 | Lord Venkateswara and Padmavati marriage | Lord Balaji and Padmavati marriage“, let us know a brief, basic and very important information.

This is in continuation from “Lord Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam (marriage) story – Part 4“:

Ekadashi / Eleventh Adhyaaya

Lord Sri Srinivasa told Lord Sri Brahma Deva, that if you all agree and give the consent only, I will marry with Sri Padmavati Devi.

For this Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva) told like this:

Lord Sri Srinivasa, you are pretending now. If you have interest you can marry.

Lord Sri Brahma Deva said like this:

You are sarvajna (omniscient), satya sankalpa (Determiner of truth), now we have to do Sri Ganapati pooja, Sri Varuna pooja, Navagraha archana,

Naandi Devata pooja, Kula Devata pooja, Goudaanika vrata, Samavartana, etc. and Lord Sri Brahma Deva asked Lord Sri Srinivasa to give permission for Punyahavachana.

During Lord Sri Srinivasa Kalyana (marriage), responsibilities shared among Devatas (Demigods) are as given below:

Lord Sri Srinivasa nominated Lord Sri Brahma Deva as the Yajamana / head.

Lord Sri Vayu Deva was given the responsibility of supplying sugandha dravyya / fragrance items to everybody.

Lord Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva), being the Mano niyamaka (controller of mind) was given the responsibility of giving respective honour to all the Devatas (Demigods), Rishis, Munis etc. as he can understand the manas / minds of all.

Lord Sri Srinivasa told Maharishi Vashishtha to do Punyavachana with Yajurveda mantra.

Lord Sri Kama Deva / Manmatha was assisting Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva).

Lord Sri Srinivasa called Lord Sri Agni Deva, his consorts and informed him to look after the cooking for food, as the food cooked by Lord Sri Agni Deva will be accepted by everybody.

Lord Sri Srinivasa gave responsibility to Lord Sri Varuna Deva to provide water to all.

Lord Sri Yama Deva to look after the mischievousness and was giving shiksha / punishment to all those dushtaas / vile people if any.

Lrod Sri Kartikeya was given the responsibility of inviting the atithi / guests, as he has six faces, he can see from six directions and invite them with ease.

Lord Kubera from whom Lord Sri Srinivasa took loan was asked to look after dakshina to Brahmanas and also to supply of ornaments for all.

Lord Sri Srinivasa feels absence ofGoddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi

Suddenly, Lord Sri Srinivasa says that he is not interested in this vivaha mahotsava / marriage ceremony.

Lord Sri Srinivasa was feeling the absence of Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi who had no arrived from Karaveerapura (Today’s Kolhapur).

Lord Sri Srinivasa calls in Lord Sri Surya Deva and informs him to tell Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi that he (Lord Sri Srinivasa) is ill and ask her to come immediately.

Hearing this, Lord Sri Surya deva expressed suspicion that Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi may not believe that Lord Sri Srinivasa can be ill.

This is because, as she (Goddess Sri Maha Laskhmi Devi) knows that Lord Sri Vishnu is aprakrita (अप्राकृत / aprākr̥ta).

(Aprakrita meaning – No one has given birth to him and he is there since unknown age and will be there until the infinite number of years).

But Lord Sri Srinivasa insisted to Lord Sri Surya Deva to tell like that he is ill.

Upon hearing this Lord Sri Surya Deva went to Karaveerapura (Today’s Kolhapur) and informed Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi that –

Lord Sri Srinivasa is ill and wanted to see you (Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi) immediately.

Even though she (Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi) knows that Lord Sri Vishnu (Srinivasa) never ever can be ill.

But at this point of time, she (Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi) believed the words of Lord Sri Surya Deva with the illusion created by Lord Sri Vishnu.

Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi came running to see Lord Sri Srinivasa to Venkatachalam hill.

When Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi reached Venkatachalam hill and saw Lord Sri Srinivasa, Lord Sri Srinivasa pretended as if he seriously ill, and could not move even a little bit.

After some time, Lord Sri Srinivasa pretended improvement in health and was became normal.

Now, Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi realized that Lord Sri Srinivasa is doing all this for vidambana / drama only and nothing else.

(Please remember that Lord Sri Vishnu is called Sri Adi Deva as he is present since the Grand Unknown Time Frama and he is also called Sri Ananta Deva as he will be there until the Grand Infinite Time.)

Dwadasha / Twelth Adhyaya

Lord Sri Srinivasa getting the Tailabhyanjana

Lord Sri Srinivasa starting to weep and said “during my Vivaha mahotsava, there is no one who can do abhyanjana with ashirvada to (that is mangala snana / bath)”.

Lord Sri Srinivasa continued, “I neither have any parents, sister, brother, father-in-law nor any relative who can give me taila snana / oil bath”.

“There is no one who is equal to mother and father. When there is no one to me, what is the necessity for me to marry now.”

Saying so Lord Sri Srinivasa was weeping (this again a vidambana / drama).

For this Lord Sri Brahma smilingly said as below:

“Why you are creating moha (illusion) on us. I am your son, you have another son called Lord Sri Vayu Deve here,”

“Lord Sri Rudra Deva is your grand son and Lord Sri Kartikeya and Lord Sri Ganesha are your great grand sons,”

“Goddess Sri Sarasvati and Goddess Sri Bharati Devi are your daughters-in-law,”

“Goddess Sri Sauparni Devi, Goddess Sri Varuni Devi and other Devatas (Demigods) are at your service all the time,”

“you are saakshaat Lord Sri Vishnu and Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi is your consort”.

Also Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi said that, she will do the ‘abhyanjana snana’ and asked him to come out of his vidambana (drama) weeping.

Thus Lord Sri Srinivasa sought the permission from all the Devatas (Demigods), so that he can take the abhyanjana snana and sat poorvabhimukha (sat facing east) for tailabhyanjana shastra snana.

Sri Arundati Devi and Goddess Sri Parvati Devi gave mantrakshata, tamboola and taila shastra.

Lord Sri Srinivasa sat on ratna peeta (Throne made up of Gems, etc.).

Goddess Sri Rama Devi (Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi) brought taila patra and did the abhyanjana snana by telling this shloka:

धीर्घायुर्भव गोविंद बहुपुत्रो धनाधिप: । चतुर्दशनानां लोकानामेकछत्रादिपो भव ।

ಧೀರ್ಘಾಯುರ್ಭವ ಗೋವಿಂದ ಬಹುಪುತ್ರೋ ಧನಾಧಿಪ: | ಚತುರ್ದಶನಾನಾಂ ಲೋಕಾನಾಮೇಕಛತ್ರಾದಿಪೋ ಭವ |

dhīrghāyurbhava gōvinda bahuputrō dhanādhipa: | caturdaśanānāṁ lōkānāmēkachatrādipō bhava |

[Please remember that Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi said ‘dheergaayurbhava Govinda’ to just only for loka shishanartham (to teach to ordinary people).]

[Lord Sri Srinivasa is the owner of the entire world. Lord Sri Srinivasa is the the Eka-chatradhipathi of all the unlimited brahmandas / multiverses.]

Thus saying so, Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi applied taila / oil on the aprakrita deha of Lord Sri Srinivasa and gave him taila snana / oil bath as abhisheka.

Then all the सुहागन (woman who have their husbands) strees sang the songs in the praise of Lord Sri Srinivasa.

Goddess Sri Sarasvati Devi supplied the vastra (clothes) for drying.

Goddess Sri Parvati Devi offered dhoopa items to Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi.

Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi tied Lord Sri Srinivasa’s hairs on his head.

Goddess Sri Savitri Devi showed mirror to Lord Sri Srinivasa.

Goddess Sri Rati Devi and Goddess Sri Shachi Devi did the chamara seva (blowing air using a hand fan).

Goddess Sri Bharati Devi offered the Shwethachatra (white umbrella).

Goddess Sri Ganga Devi offered the pair of padukas (Divine footwear).

Lord Sri Brahma & Lord Sri Vayu Deva, Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva), Ashta Dikpalakas, Maharishi Kashyapa and other Rishis, Bhrigu Rishi, Devarshi Narada, had the divya darshanam of Lord Sri Srinivasa after the above ceremony.

Lord Sri Srinivasa had the urdhvapundra dharana.

Jagan maata Goddess Sri Rama Devi (Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi) applied tilaka on the forehead of Lord Sri Srinivasa.

Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva) brought various ornaments from Kubera, and Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi did the alankara with a beautiful smiling face.

Bhagavan Sri Srinivasa had the peetambara dharana and mounji. Bhagavan Sri Srinivasa did the sandhyavandana and oupasana.

Bhagavan Sri Srinivasa did the Sri Ganapati pooja praying lokareetya for NirviGnatha (without any obstables), did punyavahana under the pourohitya of Maharishi Vashistta.

Lord Sri Brahma Deva did the ashtavarga seva.

Maharishi Vashishtha asked Lord Sri Srinivasa as to who is your Kuladevata is? as he has to do the sthapana of Kuladevata.

For this Lord Sri Srinivasa told that his kuladevata for him as well as for Pandavaas is “Shami tree” (Banni tree) (Prosopis Cineraria.).

After this, Agasthya Rishi gave the direction that the Shami Vriksha (tree) is near Kumara Dhara Tirtha.

And asked Lord Sri Srinivasa to go and bring a branch of the tree. For this Lord Sri Srinivasa went to the “Shami” tree and did the namaskara and prayed like this:

(“Shami” was the kuladevata for Pandavas and even Lord Sri Srinivasa also told that it is his kuladevata is also “Shami”.)

śami śamayate pāpaṁ śamī śatruvināśini | ārjunasya dhanurdhāri rāmasya priyavādini |

Meaning of this shloka is as given below:

“Shami Tree destroys our sins, it also destroys our enemies. It was holding the Dhanush (bow) of Arjuna for one full year and it is Lord Sri Rama Chandra Prabhu’s most favorite tree.”

Lord Sri Srinivasa borrows money from Kubera

Lord Sri Srinivasa agreeing to the suggestion of Sri Rudra Deva (shiva), called in Kubera and took him near the ‘shami‘ tree (to the west of Svami Pushkarini).

And asked Lord Sri Kubera to lend the money required for the vivaha mahotsava / marriage ceremony.

Lord Sri Kubera prayed to Lord Sri Srinivasa like this:

“The unlimited multiverses belongs to you. You are the sarva niyamaka (Controller of all) of everything and anything.”

“Only With your ashirvada / blessings of you, I came to be callked as the “Dhanapati” (Lord of wealth / it’s a post).”

Lord Sri Kubera continued and said: “I am just your sevaka / servant who is looking after your own money. You are completely not at all dependent on the money which I have”.

After this Lord Sri Srinivasa replied like this:

“During Lord Sri Brahma Deva’s one day, I would take dashavatar.”

“During the avatar period, I will not take any dhana kanaka (wealth) to Vaikuntha after avatar samapti (end). As such you are the owner of this wealth”.

Later Lord Sri Kubera replies like this:

“Okay, then as per the kali Yuga rules, you have to sign runa / loan agreement, so that I can lend you the money.”

After this, Lord Sri Brahma Deva wrote the “runa / loan agreement letter” as follows:

वैशाखे शुक्लसप्तम्यां विलंबे चैव वत्सरे । निष्काणां राममुद्राणां लक्षाणि च चतुर्दश । द्रव्यं दत्तं धनेशेन वृद्धिग्रहणकारणात् ।

Greatness of Shami vriksha / tree

Pancha Pandavas after being cheated by Kauravas and also having finished their 12 years in “vanavasa” (forest exile), Pancha Pandavas had to observe Agyatvas.

(Agyatvas = To stay in a place, but without being found out by anybody / incognito exile).

(In incognito exile Yudhishthira was called as Kanka, Bhima as Ballabha, Arjuna as Brihannala, Nakula as Granthika, Sahadeva as Tantripala and Draupadi as Sairandhri.)

Thus, in order to stay in Virata nagara, Pancha Pandavas kept all their weapons on a Shami vriksha / tree.

When Pancha Pandavas returned from Ajnathavasa (Incognito exile), the weapons were safe there.

Thus, to express their gratitude, they started worshipping Shami vriksha / tree as their Kuladevata.

The same custom is being practiced even today.

Shami tree is helpful for pregnant woman to prevent any miscarriage.

Shami tree is useful for treatment of asthama, bronchitis, dysentery, loco derma, piles etc.

By so saying he (Lord Sri Srinivasa) did the pooja of the vriksha / tree and cut one branch of Shami tree and keeping it over his head, he (Lord Sri Srinivasa) brought it accompanied by mangala vadyas / instruments.

Maharishi Vashishtha did the sthapana of Shami branch in the place of which belongs to Lord Sri Srinivasa (that is near Lord Sri Varaha Svamy’s sannidhana).

Lord Sri Srinivasa requested Lord Sri Varaha Svamy as given below:

To come to his vivaha mahotsava / marriage ceremony along with Sri Dharani Devi (Sri BhuDevi) to the Akasha Raja’s palace.

(We should know that both Lord Sri Srinivasa and Lord Sri Varaha Svamy are one and the same.)

(In all the avatars of Lord Sri Maha Vishnu there is no bedha / difference in between the two – this act of Lord Sri Srinivasa is doing lokareetya even here.)

Thus, Lord Sri Varaha Svamy replied that he is busy with the crop season and as such he is sending Sri Bakula (Vakula) Devi as his representative.

Lord Sri Srinivasa did the appreciation of Shami tree in the presence of Lord Sri Varaha Svamy.

Lord Sri Srinivasa called Lord Sri Brahma Deva and instructed him to send all the people to Narayanapura.

Thus, Lord Sri Brahma Deva replied that after doing the kuladevata pratistaana and Naandi samaaraadhana, one must arrange for Brahmana samaaraadhana and get their blessings.

As such, without doing bhojana (food), when every body is hungry it is improper to move from here.

For this Lord Sri Srinivasa replied like this:

“I don’t have any money with me and when I came from Vaikuntha, I have not brought anything with me.”

“I have already spent nearly 10,000 years here with extreme difficulties in this place. Thus, it is not possible for me to arrange for bhojana (food) for all now”.

After these words from Lord Sri Srinivasa, Lord Sri Brahma Deva kept silent.

Whereas Lord Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva) said like this:

“If someone is not having money, then at least one must borrow money and should do all the required arrangements”.

After all these discussion Runa / Loan agreement was signed by svayam Lord Sri Srinivasa himself on Vilambi naama samvatsara, Vasanta Ritu, Vaishakha masam, Shukla saptami:

The loan amount was 14 laksha Raama Tankee varahas. This has to be returned with interest + principal interest to Lord Sri Kubera.

This total amount has to be repaid (with interest and principal interest) by Lord Sri Srinivasa to Lord Sri Kubera before the end Kali Yuga (that is, before 100 years of the end of Kali Yuga).

Witnessees were: Lord Sri Brahma Deva, Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva) (He had come in Trinetra Panchamukha form), and Shami tree.

After the loan agreement was signed, Lord Sri Srinivasa instructed Lord Sri Kubera to keep the loan amount with himself and to spend as per the requirement and whenever the need arises.

Lord Sri Srinivasa instructed Lord Sri Kubera to bring all the requirements like Rice, dals, jaggery, oil, honey, sugar, ghee, and all the cooking items including:

Various vastraas (clothes), dotra and sarees and also mangala sutra, Nupura (ring of the leg’s finger) and one ring for Lord Sri Srinivasa himself.

Thus, Lord Sri Kubera arranged all the required items within a fraction of a second with the blessings of Svayam Lord Sri Srinivasa.

About Brahmana suhagan (suvasini) bhojana

Lord Sri Srinivasa sent Lord Sri Agni Deva and asked him to look after the preparation of food.

When Lord Sri Agni Deva asked Lord Sri Srinivasa as how to arrange for vessels for so many lakhs of people to prepare food?

For this Lord Sri Srinivasa replied as below:

First take bath in Svami Pushkarini, then do ‘Tovve’ in Paapa vinaashini tirtha, prepare parama anna in akashaganga,

prepare palyaas (side dishes) in deva tirtha, prepare ghee in tumburu tirtha, prepare various bhakshyaas in Kumara Tirtha,

prepare Gojju (similar to sambhar) in Pandu Tirtha, prepare Chatni, pickles etc. in other tirthaas.

As instructed by Lord Sri Srinivasa, Lord Sri Agni Deva prepared all the bhakshyas (food items) with his assistants and consorts Sri Svaha Devi and Sri Svadha Devi.

Lord Sri Srinivasa instructed Lord Sri Brahma Deva to do the naivedya to Ahobala’s (Today’s Ahobilam) Lord Sri Narasimha Svamy and arrange for the bhojana (food) of all as per taratamya / hierarchy.

After naivedya all were served the nivedita bhojana (Naiveda done food).

The people were sitting in the bhojana sabhangana (dining hall) from a place called Pandu Tirtha to Srishaila (Today’s Srisailam) hill.

After all the Brahmana’s bhojana (food), Lord Sri Brahma Deva, Lord Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva), Lord Sri Garuda Deva,

Lord Sri Adishesha Naga, Goddess Sri Ramaa Devi and Lord Sri Srinivasa himself took the bhojana (food).

By this time, it was the Suryasta (Sun set) time.

Here again Lord Sri Srinivasa pretended as if he was getting deep sleep in the night and spent the saptami (seventh day of the month) night.

Next morning (Ashtami, that is eighth day of the month) Lord Sri Srinivasa sent Lord Sri Garuda Deva to meet Lord Sri Brahma Deva with a message as below:

“Get started to move towards Akasha Raja’s palace, with all your team”.

Lord Sri Srinivasa himself also sat on Lord Sri Garuda Deva and started moving to Narayanapura along with Lord Sri Brahma Deva,

Lord Sri Vayu Deva, Lord Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva), Lord Sri Kartikeya, Goddess Sri Ramaa Deva (Sri Maha Lakshmi Devai), Sri Bakula (Vakula) Devi.

In the mean time Sri Adishesha Naga was doing the seva (serve) of Shvetachatra (white umbrella) and Lord Sri Vayu Deva was blowing air with the ‘Chaamara seva‘ (fanning).

While Lord Sri Rudra Deva (Shiva) sat to Lord Sri Srinivasa’s left side and Lord Sri Vayu Deva sat on the right side of Lord Sri Srinivasa.

And Goddess Sri Ramaa Devi (Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi) was sitting on Golden chariot, while Sri Bakula (Vakula) Devi in the vimaana (aeroplane).

This great divine procession started from a place called Seshachalam and was moving towards Narayanapura.

During this great divine procession, the road was so crowded that there was no space even for throwing even one tila / sesame also.

This great divine procession reached a place called Padma Sarovar and reached Shukashrama (that is, ashrama of Sri Shukacharya Ji).

Sri Shukacharya Ji who was eagerly waiting for this opportunity of seeing Lord Sri Srinivasa,

whole heartedly invited Lord Sri Srinivasa and he was happy that Lord Sri Srinivasa accepted his atithya (hospitality) and gave Lord Sri Srinivasa tuber, potatoes, fruits etc. to eat.

(Our Lord Sri Vishnu is so Karunasagara, that he just accepts anything which we give in real bhakti / devotion by anyone).

Lord Sri Srinivasa told that there are crores of people following him and it’s won’t be easy for Sri Shukacharya Ji to offer food to each and everyone.

For this Sri Shukacharya Ji replied that, even though he is daridra / wretched person, but if Lord Sri Vishnu does Bhojana (eat food) in his ashrama, the entire world will easily get satisfied.

“एको विष्णुर महादुभुतम्” | “ಏಕೋ ವಿಷ್ಣುರ್ ಮಹದ್ಭೂತಂ” | “ēkō viṣṇur mahadbhūtaṁ”

Later, Lord Sri Srinivasa entered into the Sri Shukacharya Ji’s kuteera / hut (Ashram / hermitage).

Here Sri Shukacharya Ji prepared rice out of the seed inside Amrita beeja (Gooseberry).

From the same seed he took milk, he took yogurt, he prepared navaneeta, prepared sambhar from Tintrini rasa.

Also, Sri Shukacharya Ji prepared rice from Amrita beeja (Gooseberry) seed and served it to Lord Sri Srinivasa.

Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi and Sri Bakula (Vakula) Devi also took Lord Sri Vishnu’s naivedya Bhojana (food).

While, few Rishis got angry and thought of cursing Sri Shukacharya Ji, as they were feeling hungry.

Noticing all these scenarios, our Lord Sri Srinivasa came out and belched (डकार लेना) in front of them.

As soon as the pure vaayu (air) came from the mouth of Lord Sri Srinivasa entered into the Rishis, they all started to feel as if their stomachs were fully filled up.

Lord Sri Srinivasa stayed at Shukashrama (Sri Shukacharya Ji’s ashrama) on Vaishakha masam, Shukla paksha, Ashtami tithi day.

[Please remember that all the Rishis pretended angry at Sri Shukacharya Ji, they know that he is the shreshta bhagavathottama (one of the same among the Vaishnavas).]

[They also know that Sri Shukacharya Ji is an avatar of Lord Shiva and also know that Lord Sri Vishnu is saarabhokta (can eat multiverses also).]

Later Lord Sri Srinivasa entered the city Narayanapura of Akasha Raja.

Here Akasha Raja went out to invite Lord Sri Srinivasa along with Tondamana Raja, Guru Sri Brihaspati Ji, Vasudhana, and wife Dharani Devi.

Here Akasha Raja was accompanied by his all army, elephants, horses, chariots, Chatra, Chamara, dhvaja, bheri dundunbhi, vaadya, etc.

Lord Sri Indra Deva showed Lord Sri Srinivasa the way towards Akasha Raja.

On the other hand and at the same time, Devarishi Narada showed Akasha Raja the way towards Lord Sri Srinivasa, who felt that it is his sukruta (great blessings).

Akasha Raja started to apply Gandha to Lord Sri Srinivasa and decorated him with Vastra (clothes) and abharana (jewelleries).

Lord Sri Srinivasa and Sri Padmavati Devi went to Goddess Sri Durga Devi temple and did phala samarpana and also did namaskara to Goddess Sri Durga Devi.

Lord Sri Srinivasa sought Sri Padmavati Devi to be his wife and also Sri Padmavati Devi sought Lord Sri Srinivasa to be her pati / husband with Goddess Sri Durga Devi.

The great divine procession of Lord Sri Srinivasa on Lord Sri Garuda Deva and Devi Sri Padmavati on Airavata started moving in the main streets of the city.

This was followed by all the Rishis, musicians, dancers, instruments, Gandharvaas, ministers, and the procession went towards Narayanapura.

Lord Sri Srinivasa told Tondamana Raja that the entire troupe are hungry now and asked him to arrange for Bhojana (food) for each and everyone.

Lord Sri Srinivasa also informed to Lord Sri Agni Deva to prepare food for all the Rishis and Munis.

Akasha Raja gave vastra (clothes) and other gifts after Bhojana (meals).

Lrod Sri Srinivasa again started to show his vidambana / drama and started to feel as if he was very tired and wanted to sleep, which is again the usual loka reetya (illusion).

On the next morning Lord Sri Srinivasa, that is, on the Vaishakha masam, Shukla paksha, Dashami tithi day (it was a Friday) called Maharishi Vashishtha and informed him that we five will be fasting today, that is:

I myself (Lord Sri Srinivasa), Goddess Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi, Lord Sri Brahma Deva, Goddess Sri Parvati Devi and Maharishi Vashishtha from groom side shall not take Bhojana or paaneeya on this day.

Also, same way from the bride’s side, Akasha Raja, Dharani Devi, Sri Padmavati Devi, Vasudhana and Guru Sri Brihaspati shall not take any Bhojana or paaneeya on this day.

For all others food shall be arranged with, this was informed by svayam Lord Sri Srinivasa to everyone on present out there.

The vivaha sabhangana / marriage hall had 10,000 stambhas / pillars, with many many simhaasanas (thrones).

Including Lord Sri Brahma Deva and all other Devatas, Maharishi Vishwamitra and other Rishis, all were sitting on Krishnajina.

Akasha Raja came with his Guru Sri Brihaspati to invite Lord Sri Srinivasa (at this time Lord Sri Srinivasa hugged him).

All the Purohitas informed Akasha Raja and Dharani Devi to do pooja to Lord Sri Srinivasa with Suganda taila, various clothes, ornaments, etc.

All the woman told that Dharanidevi is really punyavati (someone who has done good karma) to have the pleasure of doing pooja of svayam Lord Sri Srinivasa.

Akasha Raja did Kanya daana sankalpa and did paada pooja of Lord Sri Srinivasa with Purusha sukta.

Everyone applied paadodaka (divine water which was used to clean Lord Sri Srinivasa’s legs) on their heads.

All the Purohitas chanted Mangalashtaka.

Akasha Raja did Kanya daana sankalpa as below:

“Born in Atri Gotra, Great grand daughter of Suveera, grand daughter of Sudharma, daughter of Akasha Raja, Padmavati named Kanya being given to Lord Sri Srinivasa.”

This was chanted by Akasha Raja thrice and requested Lord Sri Srinivasa to follow Sri Padmavati Devi in Dharma, Artha and Kama and asked him to accept Padmavati as Kanya daana.

Then all the Purohitas from Groom’s side informed Lord Si Srinivasa to say like this:

“Yayati Raja’s prapoutra, Shoorasena’s poutra, Vasudeva’s putra from Vashishtha Gotra, Srinivasa named groom accepting Kanya daana of Sri Padmavati Devi”

During this juncture, Akasha Raja gave koti koti Suvarna daana.

2,000 tola weighing Suvarna kireeta, kaakandiga, kantisara (necklace), karna bhooshana, golden bangles, etc. during Kanya daana time.

Later, Kankana bandhana on the left hand of Sri Padmavati Devi followed by Mantra pushpa was done.

***Maangalyam tantunaanena jagajjevana hetuna***

Lord Sri Srinivasa tied the most divine Mangala sutra to Sri Padmavati Devi.

Then lajahoma took place.

Also, Akasha Raja gave Go-daana (thousands of cows), horses, vastra, as per the choice to all the Brahmanas present there.

After the divine Saptapadi (seven steps), both Lord Sri Srinivasa along with Sri Padmavati Devi did the darshanam of Arundati nakshatra and saptarishis directly.

Next day was the atirikta dashami, the new couple did abhyanjana and Akasha Raja gave hundreds of bags of rice, dhaanyaas, jaggery, tamarind, milk, curds, ghee, vegetables etc. to Lord Sri Srinivasa.

Lord Sri Srinivasa stayed in Maharishi Agastya’s ashrama for six months as the newly married couple are not supposed to climb the hill Venkatachalam.

[Maharishi Agastya ashrama is today’s Srinivasa Mangapuram (Kalayana Venkateswara temple), Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh.]

Thus, Rishi Shatananda Ji narrated the great and divine Lord Sri Srinivasa’s Kalyana story to Janakaraja.

Those who all does the Shravana (hear) of Lord Sri Srinivasa’s Kalyana will get punya (good deeds) of samasta bhudaana (Doing donation of the whole earth).

And one who does the aacharana of Lord Sri Srinivasa’s Kalyanam (marriage) (Kalyanotsavam Seva) will get Kankana bala (To get married) for their children.
