Just before going to the Stotram (Stuti) (mantra) (Kavacham) (shloka) (hymn), let us know very briefly about Lord Sri Vishnu’s avatar Lord Sri Narasimha.

Lord Sri Narasimha is an avatar of Lord Sri Vishnu. Lord Sri Narasimha takes this avatar to save his devotee named Prahlada from the clutches of his father demon King Hiranyakashipu (Hiranyakashyap).

Lord Sri Vishnu is the most kindest. If even the smallest of the smallest devotee calls him with true devotion, he will definitely come to save his devotee.

The devotee must have full faith and devotion in Lord Sri Vishnu (Lord Sri Narasimha). Then definitely Lord Sri Vishnu (Lord Sri Narasimha) will rescue his devotee.

Meaning of Narasimha = Narasimha = Nara + Simha = Divine half Human form + Divine half Lion form. He takes the avatar of to protect his devotee Prahlada and to slay the demon King Hiranyakashipu (Hiranyakashyap).

1. || श्री नरसिंह महा मंत्र ||

उग्रं विरं महाविष्णुं ज्वलंतम सर्वतोमुखं | नृसिंहं भीषणं भद्रं मृत्योर्मृत्युं नमाम्यहं ||

|| ಶ್ರೀ ನರಸಿಂಹ ಮಹಾ ಮಂತ್ರ ||

ಉಗ್ರಂ ವೀರಂ ಮಹಾವಿಷ್ಣುಂ ಜ್ವಲಂತಮ್ ಸರ್ವತೋಮುಖಂ | ನೃಸಿಂಹಂ ಭೀಷಣಂ ಭದ್ರಂ ಮೃತ್ಯೋರ್ಮೃತ್ಯುಂ ನಮಾಮ್ಯಹಂ ||

|| Sri Narasimha Maha Mantra ||

Ugraṁ vīraṁ mahāviṣṇuṁ jvalantam sarvatōmukhaṁ | nr̥sinhaṁ bhīṣaṇaṁ bhadraṁ mr̥tyōrmr̥tyuṁ namāmyahaṁ ||

Meaning of the above stotram : ugram = Most ferocious; viram = Most heroic; maha-vishnum = Lord Sri Vishnu; jvalantam = Burning; sarvato mukham = Every side;

nrisimham = Lord Sri Narasimha; bhishanam = Most terrific; Most safeguarding; mrityur mrityum = God of death of the deaths; namami = Namaste; aham = I do.

Translation of the above stuti : Lord Sri Narasimha I bow down to you, you the most ferocious and most heroic God and you are an avatar of Lord Sri Vishnu. You are burning from every side for your enemies.

You are the most terrific, most safeguarding and you are the God of death of the deaths and thus I bow down to you and do namaste to you.

2. || नरसिंह प्रपत्ति स्तोत्रं ||

माता नृसिंहश्च पिता नृसिंहो भ्राता नृसिंहश्च सखा नृसिंहः | विद्या नृसिंहो द्रविणं नृसिंहः स्वामि नृसिंहः सकलं नृसिंहः ||

इतो नृसिंहः परतो नृसिंहो यतो यतो यामि ततो नृसिंहः | नृसिंह देवादपरं न किंचित् तस्मान्नृसिंहं शरणं प्रपद्ये ||

|| ನರಸಿಂಹ ಪ್ರಪತ್ತಿ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಂ ||

ಮಾತಾ ನೃಸಿಂಹಶ್ಚ ಪಿತಾ ನೃಸಿಂಹೋ ಭ್ರಾತಾ ನೃಸಿಂಹಶ್ಚ ಸಖಾ ನೃಸಿಂಹಃ | ವಿದ್ಯಾ ನೃಸಿಂಹೋ ದ್ರವಿಣಂ ನೃಸಿಂಹಃ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ನೃಸಿಂಹಃ ಸಕಲಂ ನೃಸಿಂಹಃ ||

ಇತೋ ನೃಸಿಂಹಃ ಪರತೋ ನೃಸಿಂಹೋ ಯತೋ ಯತೋ ಯಾಮಿ ತತೋ ನೃಸಿಂಹಃ | ನೃಸಿಂಹದೇವಾದಪರಂ ನ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ ತಸ್ಮಾನ್ನೃಸಿಂಹಂ ಶರಣಂ ಪ್ರಪದ್ಯೇ ||

|| Narasimha Prapatti Stotram ||

mātā nr̥sinhaśca pitā nr̥sinhō bhrātā nr̥sinhaśca sakhā nr̥sinhaḥ | vidyā nr̥sinhō draviṇaṁ nr̥sinhaḥ svāmi nr̥sinhaḥ sakalaṁ nr̥sinhaḥ ||

itō nr̥sinhaḥ paratō nr̥sinhō yatō yatō yāmi tatō nr̥sinhaḥ | nr̥sinhadēvādaparaṁ na kin̄cit tasmānnr̥sinhaṁ śaraṇaṁ prapadyē ||

Meaning of the above : Our divine mother is Lord Sri Narasimha, our divine father is Lord Sri Narasimha. Our divine brother is Lord Sri Narasimha, our divine Friend is Lord Sri Narasimha.

Our divine knowledge is Lord Sri Narasimha, our divine wealth is Lord Sri Narasimha. Our Bhagavan (God) is Lord Sri Narasimha, and anything and everything is Lord Sri Narasimha.

Lord Sri Narasimha is in this universe, Lord Sri Narasimha is everywhere (Omnipresent). There I go, here I go, that way I go, this way I go, Lord Sri Narasimha is present everywhere.

Narasimha is the Supreme Bhagavan (God), there is none other than HIM in this universe who is greater or equal to Lord Sri Narasimha. Thus, I humbly, very gracefully seek refuge in you Oh Lord Sri Narasimha Swamy.

3. || श्री नरसिंह नख स्तुति ||

पांत्वस्मान् पुरुहूत-वैरि-बलवन्-मातंग-माद्यद्-घटा- | कुंभोचाद्रि-विपाटनाधिक-पटु-प्रत्येक-वज्रायिताः ।

श्रीमत्-कंठीरवास्य-प्रतत-सु-नखरा दारिताराति-दूर- | प्रध्वस्त-ध्वांत-शांत-प्रवितत-मनसा भाविता नाकि वृन्दैः || १ ||

लक्ष्मी-कांत् समंततॊऽपि कलयन् नैवेशितुस्ते समं | पश्याम्युत्तम-वस्तु दूर-तरतोऽ-पास्तं रसॊ यॊऽष्टमः |

यद्-रॊषॊत्कर-दक्ष-नॆत्र-कुटिल-प्रांतॊत्थिताग्नि-स्फुरत्- | खद्यॊतॊपम-विस्फुलिंग-भसिता ब्रह्मॆश-शक्रॊत्कराः || २ ||

|| इति श्री मदानंद तीर्थ भगवद्पादाचार्य विरचितं श्री नरसिंह नख स्तुति सम्पूर्णं ||

|| ಶ್ರೀನರಸಿಂಹ-ನಖ-ಸ್ತುತಿಃ ||

ಪಾಂತ್ವಸ್ಮಾನ್ ಪುರುಹೂತ-ವೈರಿ-ಬಲವನ್-ಮಾತಂಗ-ಮಾದ್ಯದ್-ಘಟಾ- | ಕುಂಭೋಚ್ಚಾದ್ರಿ ವಿಪಾಟನಾಧಿಕ ಪಟು ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ವಜ್ರಾಯಿತಾಃ |

ಶ್ರೀಮತ್ ಕಂಠೀರವಾಸ್ಯ ಪ್ರತತ ಸು ನಖರಾ ದಾರಿತಾರಾತಿ ದೂರ | ಪ್ರಧ್ವಸ್ತ ಧ್ವಾಂತ ಶಾಂತ ಪ್ರವಿತತ ಮನಸಾ ಭಾವಿತಾ ನಾಕಿವೃಂದೈಃ (ಭೂರಿ-ಭಾಗೈಃ) || ೧ ||

ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀ-ಕಾಂತ ಸಮಂತತೋಽಪಿ ಕಲಯನ್ ನೈವೇಶಿತುಸ್ತೇ ಸಮಂ | ಪಶ್ಯಾಮ್ಯುತ್ತಮ-ವಸ್ತು ದೂರ-ತರತೋಽಪಾಸ್ತಂ ರಸೋ ಯೋಽಷ್ಟಮಃ |

ಯದ್-ರೋಷೋತ್ಕರ-ದಕ್ಷ-ನೇತ್ರ-ಕುಟಿಲ-ಪ್ರಾಂತೋತ್ಥಿತಾಗ್ನಿ-ಸ್ಫುರತ್- | ಖದ್ಯೋತೋಪಮ-ವಿಸ್ಫುಲಿಂಗ-ಭಸಿತಾ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮೇಶ-ಶಕ್ರೋತ್ಕರಾಃ || ೨ ||

|| ಇತಿ ಶ್ರೀಮದಾನಂದ ತೀರ್ಥ ಭಗವತ್ಪಾದಾಚಾರ್ಯ ವಿರಚಿತಂ ಶ್ರೀನರಸಿಂಹ ನಖಸ್ತುತಿಃ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣಂ ||

|| Śrīnarasinha nakha stutiḥ ||

Pāntvasmān puruhūta-vairi-balavan-mātaṅga-mādyad-ghaṭā- | kumbhōccādri-vipāṭanādhika-paṭu-pratyēka-vajrāyitāḥ |

śrīmat-kaṇṭhīravāsya-pratata-su-nakharā dāritārāti-dūra- | pradhvasta-dhvānta-śānta-pravitata-manasā bhāvitā nākivr̥ndaiḥ (bhūri-bhāgaiḥ) || 1 ||

lakṣmī-kānta samantatō̕pi kalayan naivēśitustē samaṁ | paśyāmyuttama-vastu dūra-taratō̕pāstaṁ rasō yō̕ṣṭamaḥ |

yad-rōṣōtkara-dakṣa-nētra-kuṭila-prāntōt’thitāgni-sphurat- | khadyōtōpama-visphuliṅga-bhasitā brahmēśa-śakrōtkarāḥ || 2 ||

|| Iti śrīmadānanda tīrtha bhagavatpādācārya viracitaṁ śrīnarasinha nakhastutiḥ sampūrṇaṁ ||

4. || भगवान श्री नरसिंह अवतार स्तोत्रं (श्री नरसिंह वराह स्तोत्रं) ||

ॐ || प्रह्लादाह्लाद हेतुं सकल गुण गणं सच्चिदानंद मात्रं | सैंहासह्योग्रमूर्तिं सदभयमरीशंखौ रामां बिभ्रतं च |

अंहस्संहारदक्षं विधिभवविहगंदेंद्र चंद्रादिवंद्यं | रक्षोवक्षो विदारोल्लसदमलदृशं नौमि लक्ष्मी नृसिंहम् || १ ||

मामांकस्थधरारांजलिपुट प्रेमातिहृष्टांतरं | सीमातीतगुणं फणींद्रफणग श्रीमान्य पादांबुजम् |

कामाद्या करचक्र शंखसुवरोद्दामाभयोद्यत्करं | सामादीड्यवराह रूप ममलं हे मासने तं स्मर || २ ||

कोलाय लसदा कल्पजालाय वन मालिने | नीलाय निज भक्तोघपालाय हरये नमः || ३ ||

धात्रीं शुभ गुण पात्री मादाया शेष विबुधमोदाय | शेषे तमिममदोषे धातुं हातुं च शंकिनं शंके || ४ ||

नमोस्तु हरये युक्तिगिराये निर्जिताराये | नमस्त गुरवे कल्पतरवे परवेदिनाम् || ५ ||

|| इति श्री मद्वादि राज पूज्य चरण विरचितं श्री नृसिंह वराह स्तोत्रं संपूर्णम् ||

|| ಶ್ರೀ ನರಸಿಂಹ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅವತಾರ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ (ಶ್ರೀ ನರಸಿಂಹ ವರಾಹ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ) ||

ಓಂ || ಪ್ರಹ್ಲಾದಾಹ್ಲಾದಹೇತುಂ ಸಕಲಗುಣಗಣಂ ಸಚ್ಚಿದಾನಂದಮಾತ್ರಂ | ಸೈಂಹಾಸಹ್ಯೋಗ್ರಮೂರ್ತಿಂ ಸದಭಯಮರಿಶಂಖೌ ರಮಾಂ ಬಿಭ್ರತಂ ಚ |

ಅಂಹಸ್ಸಂಹಾರದಕ್ಷಂ ವಿಧಿಭವವಿಹಗೇಂದ್ರೇಂದ್ರ ಚಂದ್ರಾದಿವಂದ್ಯಂ | ರಕ್ಷೋವಕ್ಷೋವಿದಾರೋಲ್ಲಸದ ಮಲದೃಶಂ ನೌಮಿ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀನೃಸಿಂಹಮ್ || ೧ ||

ವಾಮಾಂಕಸ್ಥಧರಾಕರಾಂಜಲಿಪುಟ ಪ್ರೇಮಾತಿಹೃಷ್ಟಾಂತರಂ | ಸೀಮಾತೀತಗುಣಂ ಫಣೀಂದ್ರಫಣಗ ಶ್ರೀಮಾನ್ಯಪಾದಾಂಬುಜಮ್ |

ಕಾಮಾದ್ಯಾಕರಚಕ್ರಶಂಖಸುವರೋದ್ದಾಮಾಭ ಯೋದ್ಯತ್ಕರಂ | ಸಾಮಾದೀಡ್ಯವರಾಹರೂಪ ಮಮಲಂ ಹೇ ಮಾಸನೇ ತಂ ಸ್ಮರ || ೨ ||

ಕೋಲಾಯ ಲಸದಾಕಲ್ಪಜಾಲಾಯ ವನಮಾಲಿನೇ | ನೀಲಾಯ ನಿಜಭಕ್ತೌಘಪಾಲಾಯ ಹರಯೇ ನಮಃ || ೩ ||

ಧಾತ್ರೀಂ ಶುಭಗುಣಪಾತ್ರೀ ಮಾದಾಯಾಶೇಷವಿಬುಧಮೋದಾಯ | ಶೇಷೇ ತಮಿಮಮದೋಷೇ ಧಾತುಂ ಹಾತುಂ ಚ ಶಂಕಿನಂ ಶಂಕೇ || ೪ ||

ನಮೋಸ್ತು ಹರಯೇ ಯುಕ್ತಿಗಿರಯೇ ನಿರ್ಜಿತಾರಯೇ | ಸಮಸ್ತಗುರವೇ ಕಲ್ಪತರವೇ ಪರವೇದಿನಾಮ್ || ೫ ||

|| ಇತಿ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ವಾದಿರಾಜಪೂಜ್ಯ ಚರಣವಿರಚಿತಂ ಶೀನೃಸಿಂಹವರಾಹಸ್ತೋತ್ರಂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣಮ್ ||

|| Śrī narasinha svāmi avatāra stōtra (śrī narasinha varāha stōtra) ||

Ōṁ || prahlādāhlādahētuṁ sakalaguṇagaṇaṁ saccidānandamātraṁ | sainhāsahyōgramūrtiṁ sadabhayamariśaṅkhau ramāṁ bibhrataṁ ca |

anhas’sanhāradakṣaṁ vidhibhavavihagēndrēndra candrādivandyaṁ | rakṣōvakṣōvidārōllasada maladr̥śaṁ naumi lakṣmīnr̥sinham || 1 ||

vāmāṅkastha dharākarān̄jalipuṭa prēmātihr̥ṣṭāntaraṁ | sīmātītaguṇaṁ phaṇīndraphaṇaga śrīmān’yapādāmbujam |

kāmādyākaracakra śaṅkhasuvarōddāmābha yōdyatkaraṁ | sāmādīḍyavarāharūpa mamalaṁ hē māsanē taṁ smara || 2 ||

kōlāya lasadākalpajālāya vanamālinē | nīlāya nijabhaktaughapālāya harayē namaḥ || 3 ||

dhātrīṁ śubhaguṇapātrī mādāyāśēṣavibudhamōdāya | śēṣē tamimamadōṣē dhātuṁ hātuṁ ca śaṅkinaṁ śaṅkē || 4 ||

namōstu harayē yuktigirayē nirjitārayē | samastaguravē kalpataravē paravēdinām || 5 ||

|| Iti śrīmadvādirājapūjya caraṇaviracitaṁ śīnr̥sinhavarāhastōtraṁ sampūrṇam ||
