Just before moving towards to know about “How to become Lord Vishnu (Krishna) (Rama) devotee (realization) | About PRAKRITI AND PURUSHA“, let us know few basic and important information.

We should always remember that, whatever we are learning about Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma), we should learn as per Hindu Puranas, Vedas, Hindu Texts itself.

This will provide us more correct weightage while learning about Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma), than learning from other means.

THE MEANS OF BECOMING LORD VISHNU (KRISHNA) (RAMA) DEVOTEE

(HOW TO GET LORD VISHNU (KRISHNA) (RAMA) REALIZATION – ABOUT PRAKRITI AND PURUSHA).

Once, Maharishi (Sage) Agastya narrated the following tale to King Bhadrashva –

One day, Devarishi Narada went to Lord Sri Vishnu and asked about the means by which a devotee could realize him

[How to become a devotee of Lord Vishnu (Krishna) (Rama)?].

Lord Sri Vishnu replied – Those who worship me by chanting the mantras of either ‘Purushasukta or ‘Vaidika Samhita‘ (from Vedas) can certainly realize (become a devotee) me.

(Here Purushasuka means – Hymn of the Rigveda, dedicated to the Purusha, that is, Lord Vishnu (Krishna) (Rama), the “Cosmic Being“)

(Also Vaidika Samhita (Sanhita) means from the divine Vedas.)

Those who perform oblation according to the rituals of ‘Pancharatra‘ can also have my divine glimpse.

But, the rituals of Pancharatra yagya can be performed only by the brahmins (Brahmanas).

All the rest of the varnas can realize me by devotion, chanting my name and making pilgrimage to holy places.

Especially in Kali Yuga, one can easily become my (Lord Sri Vishnu) devotee with simple chanting of my different names.

Maharishi (Sage) Agastya while giving discourse to king Bhadrashwa also predicted that sinners would out number the virtuous ones in Kaliyuga and said —

“People would abandon their respective ‘dharmas‘ and the varna system (Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra) would become extinct.”

LORD VISHNU–THE ALMIGHTY GOD

Once, Maharishi (Sage) Agastya had organised a grand yagya in which he had invited all the deities and sages. Lord Sri Vishnu, Lord Sri Brahma Deva and Lord Shiva also went there.

Agastya was puzzled as to who was the most superior among all three of them. He asked Lord Shiva in this regard.

Lord Shiva replied — One who is worshipped by performing oblation- One who is the source of this universe and into whom it ultimately merges; is none other than Lord Sri Janardhana (Vishnu).

So he (Lord Sri Vishnu) (Rama) (Krishna) should be worshipped first of all.

He is the only one who expresses himself in three forms — Lord Sri Brahma, Lord Sri Vishnu, Lord Sri Mahesh (Lord Shiva).

(But we should always remember that, Lord Vishnu is different, Lord Brahma is different and Lord Shiva is different and unique entities.)

Rajo guna is predominant in Sri Brahma Deva along with some quantities of Satvaguna and Tamoguna. Sri Brahma Deva has manifested from the navel of Lord Sri Vishnu.

Tamoguna is the dominant quality in me (Lord Shiva) with little bit of satva and rajo gunas.

Lord Sri Narayana (Vishnu) is the embodiment of pure Satva (Satvika) Guna.

In Satya Yuga, He is worshipped by the means of meditationDuring Treta Yuga, Lord Sri Hari is worshipped by the means of Yagna (oblation).

During Dvapara Yuga, Lord Sri Hari is pleased by nothing but the rituals of Pancharatra.

During Kali Yuga, people will worship Lord Sri Hari (Vishnu) by various means.

Lord Shiva’s revelations had completely satisfied Maharishi (Sage) Agastya.

MAHARISHI (SAGE) GAUTAMA CURSES THE BRAHMINS

There were many sages present at the Yagya organized by Maharishi (Sage) Agastya.

Some of them asked Lord Shiva as to why he had created some scriptures which appeared so confusing to human beings.

Lord Shiva revealed to them that he had done so to protect the brahmins from the curse of Maharishi (Sage) Gautama. Then he narrated the incident as it had happened —

During ancient times, Maharishi (Sage) Gautama did an austere penance in ‘Dandakaranya‘ forest.

Lord Sri Brahma Deva became pleased and gave him some divine seeds capable of producing eternal crops.

Maharishi (Sage) Gautama then went to ‘Saptashringa‘ mountain and made his hermitage there.

Maharishi (Sage) Gautama sowed the seeds and became pleasantly surprised when he saw rice grains sprouting up within few moments.

Maharishi (Sage) Gautama lived there happily with his disciples.

In course of time, the whole country was struck by famine except the place where Maharishi (Sage) Gautama had his hermitage.

One day, few Rishis (Sages) arrived at Maharishi (Sage) Gautama’s hermitage. Mahishi (Sage) Gautama treated them with all the respect.

These Rishis (Sages) enjoyed the hospitality of Maharishi (Sage) Gautama and stayed at his hermitage till the famine phase was over.

Then those Rishis (Sages) decided to go back to their respective native places.

When they sought Maharishi (Sage) Gautama’s permission, he requested him to stay for few more days.

The Rishis (Sages) then decided to use deceitful means for taking Maharishi (Sage) Gautama’s permission.

They created a superficial cow with the help of their illusionary powers and left it near the hermitage of Maharishi (Sage) Gautama.

Maharishi Sage Gautama was very pleased to see that cow. He eulogized it by sprinkling water on it.

Hardly had Maharishi Sage Gautama finished his act than the cow died.

All those wicked Rishis (Sages) arrived there and cursed Maharishi (Sage) Gautama for killing an innocent cow.

Rishis (Sage) told Maharishi Sage Gautama that they could never live along with a person who had killed a cow.

Maharishi (Sage) Gautama then requested those impostors to tell about the means by which he could become absolved from the heinous sin he had committed.

The Rishis (Sages) told him that the cow would become alive once Ganga Devi’s water was sprinkled on its body.

Maharishi (Sage) Gautama once again did a tremendous penance to please Lord Shiva.

When Lord Shiva appeared, Maharishi Sage Gautama requested him to give a lock of his hair.

Lord Shiva agreed to give a lock of his hair to Maharishi (Sage) Gautama.

Maharishi (Sage) Gautama then went to the spot where the cow’s body was lying. He sprinkled some water emanating from the hair.

The illusionary cow disappeared within a moment and in its place was created a river.

Right then, the Sapta Rishis (Seven Sages) arrived there and blessed Maharishi (Sage) Gautama.

Meanwhile, Maharishi (Sage) Gautama realized that a wicked prank had been played on him by those wicked sages.

Maharishi Sage Gautama cursed those wicked Rishis (Sages) that they would become bereft of the knowledge of Vedas and also that they would no longer be entitled to perform the Vedic rituals.

The Sapta rishis (Seven Sages) requested Maharishi (Sage) Gautama to have mercy on those unfortunate brahmins.

Maharishi (Sage) Gautama then declared that his curse will come true only in Kali Yuga and those brahmins will not be affected by his curse in all the remaining three Yugas.

The Sapta Rishis (Seven Sages) came to me and informed me about whatever had happened to those unfortunate brahmins.

I created ‘Shiva Samhita‘ from my breath which is similar to Vedas as far as the importance of rituals are concerned.

I did this for the benediction of the brahmins. I know that brahmins would fall from grace during Kaliyuga.

People would give little respect to the Vedas and create their own scriptures. Confusion would be prevalent and people would discover false religions.

INFORMATION ABOUT PRAKRITI AND PURUSHA IS AS GIVEN BELOW:

Once, Lord Shiva while describing about the incident when he had a divine glimpse of Lord Sri Narayana (Vishnu), told Maharishi (Sage) Agastya —

Purusha‘ is none other than Lord Sri Narayana (Vishnu) himself and Prakriti is the medium through which he manifests his powers.

I have been fortunate to have a divine glimpse of this Purusha. Lord Sri Brahma Deva after having created me, instructed me to create.

But, I did not know how to start the creation. So, I decided to do penance and went into the ocean.

In the ocean, I saw an entity who was no more than the size of a thumb.

He was purusha himself and I immediately recognized him. I started meditating on the form of that almighty–Purusha (Lord Vishnu).

Suddenly, eleven more entities emerged before me.

They were all very radiant and the water had become hot on account of the heat emanating from their bodies.

I asked them as to who they were but they did not give any reply and went out of my sight. The next moment, I saw an extremely handsome man.

I asked him about his identity and also about the eleven entities whom I had seen few moments ago.

Those entities were the eleven Aadityas and had gone to help Lord Sri Brahma Deva in the process of creation.

Then he said–I am Narayana–the omnipresent Bhagavan (Lord). I am blessing you with ‘divine vision‘ so that you can see my divine appearance.’

When I fixed my glance at Narayana (Vishnu) I was amazed to see the same thumb sized Narayana (Vishnu) standing before me.

But, now He was no longer having the size of a thumb.

On the contrary he had expanded his body to such an extent that He appeared like a giant.

I also saw Lord Sri Brahma Deva sitting on a lotus flower emanating from his navel. I eulogized HIM with complete devotion.

HE blessed me and said–‘You are eternal and nothing is beyond your knowledge.’

‘You will be worshipped by the deities. I shall take ten incarnations in the coming eras and shall worship you in each of my incarnation.’

Having said this, Lord Sri Narayana (Vishnu) disappeared. This was how I saw the divine form of the ‘Purusha‘– that is Lord Sri Narayana (Vishnu).

PS: After hearing all these, how can one can’t be a real devotee of Lord Sri Vishnu. Lord Sri Vishnu is the ‘Adi purusha‘.

Before him no one was present. Lord Sri Narayana (Vishnu) doesn’t has any parents like Lord Sri Brahma Deva or Lord Rudra Deva (Shiva).

Above image : Lord Sri Narayana original form. Here Narayana = Nara + Ayana.

नर / ನರ / nara = water, नार / ನಾರ / nāra = On water, अयन / ಅಯನ / ayana = Sleeping or lying down.

Lord Sri Narayana is someone, who will be sleeping or lying down on water.

Before Lord Sri Narayana no one was present.

No one is above or equal to Lord Sri Narayana (Vishnu).

Lord Sri Vishnu is not at all dependent on anything or anyone.

Lord Sri Vishnu is called as ‘mukta‘, that is, he is completely free and independent to do anything and everything at any given time.

Let’s all chant his different divine names of Lord Vishnu (Krishna) (Rama) as given below:

Sri Krishnaaya Namaha | Sri Raamaaya Namaha | Sri Naaraayanaaya Namaha | Sri Vishnuye Namaha | Sri Hariye Namaha | etc…
