Just before moving towards to know about “Sri Krishna (Sri Rama / Vishnu) Stotram (Stuti, Sloka) with meaning for kids & elders in Sanskrit, Kannada, English languages“, let us know few basic and important information.

Lord Sri Krishna / Lord Sri Rama / Lord Sri Vishnu (Or any avatar of Lord Sri Vishnu) is the Supreme Bhagavan (Divine God / Lord) and all others are his followers.

Lord Sri Vishnu has taken unlimited avatars and in this Lord Sri Krishna, Lord Sri Rama are two of them. Lrod Sri Krishna is 8th avatar and Lord Sri Rama is 7th avatar of Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu.

Now, let us see all the below Sri Krishna (Rama / Vishnu) Stotrams (Stuti, Slokas) in Sanskrit (Hindi), Kannada and English languages:

1. शुक्लांबरधरं विष्णुं शशिवर्णं चतुर्भुजं |
प्रसन्नवदनं ध्यायॆत् सर्व विघ्नॊपशांतयॆ ||

ಶುಕ್ಲಾಂಬರಧರಂ ವಿಷ್ಣುಂ ಶಶಿವರ್ಣಂ ಚತುರ್ಭುಜಂ |
ಪ್ರಸನ್ನವದನಂ ಧ್ಯಾಯೇತ್ ಸರ್ವ ವಿಘ್ನೋಪಶಾಂತಯೇ ||

śuklāmbaradharaṁ viṣṇuṁ śaśivarṇaṁ caturbhujaṁ |
prasannavadanaṁ dhyāyēt sarva vighnōpaśāntayē ||

(This divine Stotram / Stuti / Sloka comes in Sri Vishnu Sahasra Namam)

Kids and Elders, now let us know the meaning of this Stotram / Stuti / Sloka as given below: 

Shukla = white colored; Ambara = cloth or sky; Dharam = wearing; Vishnum = Bhagavan Sri Vishnu who is pervading and is omnipresent; Shashi = as soft as moon; Varnam = colored;

Chatur = four; Bhujam = shoulders; Prasanna = Always smiling and pleasant one; Vadanam = body; Dhyayet = I meditate upon of my dear Bhagavan Sri Vishnu; Sarva = all; Vighna = obstacle or hindrance or blockages; Upashantaye = remove or abate or pacify.

Meaning: Oh my dear Bhagavan Sri Vishnu, I meditate upon you who is wearing white garment, who is pervading, who is as bright and as colorful as soft Shashi (Moon), who always has a smiling face, who is having four hands, and who is the remover of all the obstacles.

2. वासुदेव सुतं देवं कंस चानूर मर्धनं |
देवकि परमानन्दं कृष्णं वन्दे जगद्गुरुं ||

ವಾಸುದೇವ ಸುತಂ ದೇವಂ ಕಂಸ ಚಾನೂರ ಮರ್ಧನಂ |
ದೇವಕಿ ಪರಮಾನಂದಂ ಕೃಷ್ಣಂ ವಂದೇ ಜಗದ್ಗುರುಂ ||

vāsudēva sutaṁ dēvaṁ kansa cānūra mardhanaṁ |
dēvaki paramānandaṁ kr̥ṣṇaṁ vandē jagadguruṁ ||

Kids and Elders, now let us know the meaning of this Stotram / Stuti / Sloka as given below:

Vasudeva = Vasudeva (read as Vasudeva and not as Vaasudeva); sutam = son; devam = oh all mighty Bhagavan Sri Krishna; Kamsa = Sri Krishna’s maternal uncle;

Chaanoora = Chaanoora (security guard of Kamsa); Mardanam = Slayer of Kamsa and Chaanoora; Devaki = Mother Devaki;

Paramaanandam = Sri Krishna is the one who will always be in ‘aanandam’ (divinely happy); krishnam = Sri Krishna; Vande = Namaste to Bhagavan Sri Krishna; Jagad = Universe; Gurum = Guru (Divine teacher).

Meaning: Krishna is the Supreme Lord, Son of Devaki (Sister of Kansa) and Vasudeva. He is the slayer of Kamsa and Chanur. I bow to such great lord and may god bless me with his grace always.

3. कृष्णाय वासुदेवाय देवकी नंदनायच |
नंदगोप कुमाराय गोविंदाय नमो नमः ||

ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಯ ವಾಸುದೇವಾಯ ದೇವಕೀ ನಂದನಾಯಚ |
ನಂದಗೋಪ ಕುಮಾರಾಯ ಗೋವಿಂದಾಯ ನಮೋ ನಮಃ ||

kr̥ṣṇāya vāsudēvāya dēvakī nandanāyaca |
nandagōpa kumārāya gōvindāya namō namaḥ ||

Krishnaaya = Bhagavan Sri Krishna’s; Vaasudevaaya = Son of Vasudeva, Oh Bhagavan Sri Krishna’s; Devaki = Mother Devaki; Nandanaaya = Son of Devaki, Oh Bhagavan Sri Krishna;

cha = her (Devaki’s) and his (Vasudeva’s); Nanda-Gopa = Sri Nanda Maharaja’s; Kumaaraaya = Son; Govindaaya = To Govinda; Namo Namah = Namaste, Namaste.

Meaning: Salutations to Bhagavan Sri Krishna, who is the son and the joy of father Vasudeva and mother Devaki, Salutations to Him (Sri Krishna),

who is the Boy of Cowherd Nanda Maharaja and who is himself the Bhagavan Govinda (Sri Krishna); Salutations, Salutations to you (Bhagavan Lord Sri Krishna) again and again.

4. श्री राम राम रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे ।
सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वराननॆ ।।

ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮ ರಾಮ ರಾಮೇತಿ ರಮೇ ರಾಮೇ ಮನೋರಮೇ |
ಸಹಸ್ರನಾಮ ತತ್ತುಲ್ಯಂ ರಾಮನಾಮ ವರಾನನೆ ||

śrī rāma rāma rāmēti ramē rāmē manōramē |
sahasranāma tattulyaṁ rāmanāma varānane ||

Sri Rama Rama = Bhagavan Sri Rama (repeated twice). (This shloka comes in Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama – Phala Shruti). This shloka is said by Lord Shiva to his consort Goddess Sri Parvati Devi.

“O Varanane (highly beautiful and lovely-faced divine woman – Sri Parvati Devi), the holy name of Bhagavan Sri Rama is highly enlightening and blissful to the mind and soul. This holy name of Bhagavan Sri Rama is equal to one thousand holy names of Bhagavan Sri Vishnu.”

(We should always remember that, whenever we are not able to chant the great Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama for various reasons, only on that time we can chant the above Stotram / Stuti / Sloka.)

(But this doesn’t means that, we can chant only this Stotram / Stuti / Sloka and no need to chant the full Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama.)

(We have to chant Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama on daily basis. Only on some unexpected times, that is, during emergency times we can chant the above Stotram / Stuti / Sloka. But it is always suggested to chant the whole of Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama on daily basis.)

5. हरे राम हरे राम राम राम हरे हरे |
हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण कृष्ण कृष्ण हरे हरे…

ಹರೇ ರಾಮ ಹರೇ ರಾಮ ರಾಮ ರಾಮ ಹರೇ ಹರೇ |
ಹರೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಹರೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಹರೇ ಹರೇ…

harē kr̥ṣṇa harē kr̥ṣṇa kr̥ṣṇa kr̥ṣṇa kr̥ṣṇa harē harē…

6. रामाय राम भद्राय राम चंद्राय वेदसे |
रघुनाथाय नाथाय सीतायाः पतये नमः ||

ರಾಮಾಯ ರಾಮ ಭದ್ರಾಯ ರಾಮ ಚಂದ್ರಾಯ ವೇದಸೆ |
ರಘುನಾಥಾಯ ನಾಥಾಯ ಸೀತಾಯಾಃ ಪತಯೇ ನಮಃ ||

rāmāya rāma bhadrāya rāma candrāya vēdase |
raghunāthāya nāthāya sītāyāḥ patayē namaḥ ||

Meaning: To the greatest Bhagavan Sri Rama, Raghunatha, Ramabhadra (Various names of Bhagavan Sri Rama), the greatness Bhagavan who is the consort of Goddess Sri Sita Devi, my namaste (salutations) to you.

7. अकाल-मृत्यु-हरनं सर्व-व्याधि- निवारणं |
समस्त दूरितोशमनं विष्णु पादोदकं शुभं ||

ಅಕಾಲ ಮೃತ್ಯು ಹರಣಂ ಸರ್ವವ್ಯಾಧಿ ನಿವಾರಣಂ |
ಸಮಸ್ತ ದುರಿತೋಪಶಮನಂ ವಿಷ್ಣು ಪಾದೋದಕಂ ಶುಭಂ ||

akāla mr̥tyu haraṇaṁ sarvavyādhi nivāraṇaṁ |
samasta duritōpaśamanaṁ viṣṇu pādōdakaṁ śubhaṁ ||

(This shloka has to be chanted while taking / drinking the teertham / divine water of Bhagavan Lord Sri Vishnu.)

Meaning: This charanamruta (teertham) of Bhagavan Sri Vishnu removes untimely death and frees one from all kinds of diseases. I therefore accept this charanamruta emanating from washing the lotus feet of Bhagavan Sri Vishnu.

8. ऊं नमो भगवते महा सुदर्शनाय वासुदेवाय धन्वन्तरये अमृत कलश हस्ताय सर्व भय विनाशाय सर्व रोग निवारणाय त्रैलोक्य पतये त्रैलोक्य निधये श्री महा विष्णु स्वरुप श्री धन्वंतरि स्वरुप श्री श्री श्री औषध चक्र नारायणाय स्वाहा ||

ಓಂ ನಮೋ ಭಾಗವತೇ ಮಹಾ ಸುದರ್ಶನಾಯ ವಾಸುದೇವಾಯ ಧನ್ವಂತರಯೇ ಅಮೃತ ಕಲಶ ಹಸ್ತಾಯ ಸರ್ವ ಭಯ ವಿನಾಶಾಯ ಸರ್ವ ರೋಗ ನಿವಾರಣಾಯ ತ್ರೈ ಲೋಕ್ಯ ಪತಯೇ ತ್ರೈ ಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಿಧಯೇ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಹಾ ವಿಷ್ಣು ಸ್ವರೂಪ ಶ್ರೀ ಧನ್ವಂತ್ರಿ ಸ್ವರೂಪ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ಔಷಧ ಚಕ್ರ ನಾರಾಯಣ ಸ್ವಾಹ ||

Om Namo Bhagavate Maha Sudarshanaaya Vaasudevaaya Dhanvantaraye Amruta Kalasha Hastaaya Sarva Bhaya Vinaashaaya Sarva Roga Nivaaranaaya Trai Lokya Pataye Trai Lokya Nidhaye Sri Maha Vishnu Swaroopa Sri Dhanvantri Swaroopa Sri Sri Sri Aushadha chakra Naaraayana Swaha ||

(This Stotram / Stuti / Sloka has to be said to remove all types of fears, all types of diseases etc.)

Meaning: Obeisances unto the Supreme Bhagavan Sri Vishnu who is known as Sudarshana Vaasudeva Dhanvantari, the holder of the Kalasha full of amruta (divine nectar) of immortality,

He is the one who removes all types of fears, who removes all types of diseases, he (Bhagavan Sri Vishnu / Dhanvantari) is the the well wisher of the three worlds, and sustainer of the three worlds,

He (Dhanvantari) is Vishnu swarupa (same as Bhagavan Sri Vishnu), by the name Dhanvantari empowered to heal all the Jiva (materially living) souls.

9. मंगलं भगवान विष्णु मंगलं गरुडध्वजः |
मंगलं पुण्डरीकाक्षं मंगलायतनो हरिः ||

ಮಂಗಳಂ ಭಾಗವನ್ ವಿಷ್ಣು ಮಂಗಳಂ ಗರುಡಧ್ವಜಃ |
ಮಂಗಳಂ ಪುಂಡರೀಕಾಕ್ಷಂ ಮಂಗಳಾಯತನೋ ಹರಿಃ ||

Mangalam Bhagawan Vishnu Mangalam Garudadvajah |
Mangalam Pundareekaaksham Mangalaayatono Harih ||

Meaning: Bhagavan Sri Vishnu is always and all auspicious, Bhagavan Sri Vishnu who is having his flag as Garuda is always and all auspicious.

Bhagavan Sri Vishnu who is having his ‘eyes as a lotus flower’ (Pundareekaaksham) is always and all auspicious, similarly Bhagavan Sri Hari (Vishnu) is always and all auspicious.

10. शान्ताकारं भुजगशयनं पद्मनाभं सुरेशं
विश्वाधारं गगन सदृशं मेघवर्णं शुभांगं |
लक्ष्मीकांतं कमलनयनं योगीहृदयानगम्यं
वन्दे विष्णुं भवभयहरं सर्वलोकैकनाथं ||

ಶಾಂತಾಕಾರಂ ಭುಜಗಶಯನಂ ಪದ್ಮನಾಭಂ ಸುರೇಶಂ
ವಿಶ್ವಾಧಾರಂ ಗಗನಸದೃಶಂ ಮೇಘವರ್ಣಂ ಶುಭಾಂಗಂ |
ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀಕಾಂತಂ ಕಮಲನಯನಂ ಯೋಗಿಹೃರ್ಧ್ಯಾನಗಮ್ಯಂ
ವಂದೇ ವಿಷ್ಣುಂ ಭವಭಯಹರಂ ಸರ್ವಲೋಕೈಕನಾಥಂ ||

śāntākāraṁ bhujagaśayanaṁ padmanābhaṁ surēśaṁ
viśvādhāraṁ gaganasadr̥śaṁ mēghavarṇaṁ śubhāṅgaṁ |
lakṣmīkāntaṁ kamalanayanaṁ yōgihr̥rdhyānagamyaṁ
vandē viṣṇuṁ bhavabhayaharaṁ sarvalōkaikanāthaṁ ||

Shaanta-aakaaram – one who has his body which will always be in peace and tranquility; Bhujaga-shayanam – one who has the ‘Aadi shesha Naaga’ snake as his bed; 

Padmanabham – one who has a lotus at his navel and from this Sri Brahma Deva takes his birth; Suresam – He is the Bhagavan of all the suras (devatas) starting from Sri Brahma Deva;

Vishva- Aadhaaram – On whom the whole universe is completely dependent and He is the foundation (Aadi Deva) for the universe (Aadhaar is foundation); Gagana-Sadrusham – Who is the unlimited sky;

Megha-varnam – He has his body as cloud’s color (the cloud whose color will be just before the rain); Shubha-Angam – Every part of whose body is highly auspicious; 

Lakshmii-Kaantam – He is the one who is the divine consort of Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi; Kamala-Nayanam – One who has eyes which is like lotus flower; 

Yogi-hrudyana-gamyam – Someone who can be easily accessed by all his devotees / yogis by meditation with their heart (Bhagavan Sri Vishnu is present in everyone’s heart); 

Vande Vishnum – I bow to the Supremet Bhagavan Sri Vishnu, who is always pervading; Bhava-Bhaya-Haram – He is the one who removes the fear of existence (Sansar – material world); 

Sarva-Loka-Eka-Natham – He is the one who alone is the Bhagavan of all unlimited Worlds / Universes (Lokas).
