The story of Nahusha, the son of Aayu and father of the Yayati, clearly shows us what un-attainable high positions one can achieve as long as he has vinayam / humbleness and what drastic downfall can happen if one has ahankar / arrogance.
Nahusha was raised in his childhood by the great Brahmarshi Vashishtha.
Since he was unaffected by happiness or sorrow and did not feel the slightest ahankar / arrogance when once Devatas / Demigods praised him in his childhood, he was named Nahusha
(Here, Na means can't be affected and husha means happiness or sorrow. This means, he is someone who can't be affected by both happiness or sorrow.)
He learnt all shastras (Techniques etc.) and after his education became the King.
